INCOMING SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS
February 2017
Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Seventh Grade Students:
It is our pleasure to offer this first official welcome to you and your child to Wamogo Middle School. As we are sure you will agree, a smooth transition to the middle school is very important. This letter will explain the transition process.
To inform you of particular offerings, both academic and extracurricular, we invite you to an Open House Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library Media Center at Wamogo Regional High School. This program is solely for parents and guardians, as students will have many other transitional opportunities in which to participate. This evening will allow parents to hear about our educational programs, as well as an overview of course registration.
At the meeting, you will receive the Wamogo Middle School 2017-2018 Program of Studies. This booklet provides an overview of course descriptions, teaming structure and our mission statement. It is an excellent resource to assist you with the course selection decisions regarding your child’s academic and elective course choices. The course selection process is a great opportunity for you to discuss your child’s interests, specifically related to music, fine arts, and world languages.
During the month of March, members of the middle school team will be visiting each elementary school to speak with sixth graders. Additionally, each elementary school will bring their sixth grade students to visit Wamogo in the coming months. At that time, students will learn more about our middle school and the programs we offer.
We are also excited to offer our Seventh Grade Student Orientation during the summer shortly prior to the start of school. The Orientation date will be communicated to you later in the spring. During that orientation, we will provide many fun activities to help introduce and acclimate your child to Wamogo. More details will be provided in the coming months.
We are confident that our multi-faceted efforts will result in a smooth and beneficial transition for your child. We understand the importance of a strong beginning and will do whatever we can to make sure that you and your child feel comfortable and ready to begin the next chapter in their education within the Region 6 Public Schools. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call (860-567-7410) or email Mrs. Spielman at aspielman@rsd6.org, Middle School Counselor and Department Chair.

SQUARE 1 ART
C e l e b r a t e Y o u r A r t i s t !
Dear GCS Families:
Students have created beautiful designs in Art classes in partnership with Square 1 Art as a fundraiser to benefit GCS enrichment opportunities such as bringing in guest artists or providing an extracurricular art experience.
Coming home soon will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. You can help make your child feel like an accomplished artist by purchasing keepsakes for the whole family containing their masterpiece. The school earns profit from every order. And as a thank you for participating, Square 1 Art provides each child with a sheet of stickers printed with their artwork — absolutely FREE!
All online and paper order forms must be turned into Mrs. Sweet by March 20th. (No late orders can be accepted.) Together, we can help support the school, build your child’s self-esteem, and create lasting keepsakes from your child’s artistic achievements.
