UIL Area E Marching Contest

Our prelims performance at the UIL Area E Marching Competition is at 9:15 am on Saturday, October 29th at Wildcat Stadium. We will be staying in hotels the night of Friday, October 28th. We are staying at this hotel.

Chaperones have already been selected for the trip, but we are in need of food crew on Friday as well as load crew on Saturday if you have already completed the CISD background check here. The sign up to volunteer is here.

Here are some important links with information about the Corpus Christi trip.

Tickets are only available online, and we strongly encourage you to purchase tickets ahead of time. Please arrive about 45 minutes prior to our performance time. There is limited parking at the stadium. The lineup of bands can be found here.

The top 12 bands out of 32 competing will advance from prelims to finals. This is a very competitive event as all bands had to qualify for this contest by earning a first division rating at the region level. The top 6 bands from finals will advance to the UIL State Marching Contest on November 9th at the Alamodome.

Wolf Band Philosophy on Competition

  • Have fun!
  • We only control our own work and performance.

  • We respect our competitors as peers and know they are working as hard as we are.

  • The judges are watching and listening to us with an open mind and a fair heart.

  • Placements and trophies are secondary to the feeling of SUPERIOR performances.

  • We accept ALL results with dignity and grace.

Hosting USBands Marching Competition

On Saturday, November 5th the Wolf Band will be hosting its first EVER marching band competition. While slightly smaller than the competitions we have done thus far this is still a VERY big deal for Davenport High School and will require a large number of volunteers to make it happen. We are looking for any and all volunteers that would be willing to donate their time to ensure the competition is a success! Check our Facebook page for more info or click here to sign up to help.

Canned Food Drive

We are participating in the GVTC canned food drive again this year. The band and color guard are specifically collecting boxes of stuffing. Drop off is at the band hall to Mr. Keyes. We are setting a goal that every band and color guard member donates one box of stuffing.

Winter Guard

Winter Guard season is just around the corner. We will be having two winter guards this year - a varsity winter guard and a junior varsity winter guard. Both groups will travel, compete, and pay an additional fee for the winter season. The varsity winter guard will have a costume fee of $135 on top of their fair share fee, but they will get to keep their costume. Our junior varsity winter guard will be wearing the same costume we used for marching season.

Here are some important dates for winter guard season.

  • November 14 - Winter Guard Clinic after school
  • November 17 - Winter Guard Try Outs after school
  • December 12 - Winter Guard parent meeting immediately after Holiday Concert

Remind Groups

We have two sets of remind groups.

  • The first is for directors to communicate with both parents and students. We used this Friday to let everyone know the game was delayed 30 minutes due to rain.
  • The second is for section parents to communicate with parents in their section.

Please take a moment to join the appropriate groups by texting the code including the @ to 81010.
