Lincoln Middle School
October 27, 2022
We were pleased to host our first session of parent/teacher conferences after school today. The home/school connection is vital in our efforts to offer students a successful middle school experience; and, fortunately, technology affords several methods of communication throughout the entire school year in addition to scheduled conference appointments. I appreciate your support and confidence as we work together toward the common goal of excellence in education. Please feel free to contact your child's team leader with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the entire school year:

Families will want to review the following reminders:
- There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Friday, October 28, 2022.
- Report Cards are not sent home, with the exception of the final Report Card in June. To view the Quarter 1 Report Card, please log into the PowerSchool Portal. Report Cards will be available for viewing starting on Friday, October 28.
- Some 8th Grade students registered to take the PSAT on Saturday, October 29. The test is at PHS at 8:00 a.m. and doors will open at 7:45 a.m. Students should enter Door #30. Today students were reminded to take their math calculators home along with #2 pencils. These items will be used for the PSAT test on Saturday.
- Monday is Halloween, October 31. Please review Mr. Steen's message below regarding costume guidelines.
- There is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 1. This a day of non-attendance for students due to parent/teacher conferences.
- Picture retakes will be in the West Gym Foyer on Wednesday, November 2 from 7:45 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Students are called down by team. No forms or money required.
Parents are welcome to check the LOST AND FOUND at any time . . . stop by during conferences if you can! Lost and Found is emptied at the end of each quarter. Items will be donated to charity after November 4.
- Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Temperatures fluctuate and it is important that you be prepared. Keeping a sweatshirt or jacket in your locker going forward would be a great idea. Students will not be permitted to return to their lockers during their lunch periods. Come prepared.
- Doors open and student supervision begins at 7:38 a.m. each morning, even during undesirable weather conditions. If it is raining or extremely cold outside, the doors will open at 7:30 a.m. and students will need to wait just inside the doors. Knowing that the cold weather is here, students should wear appropriate clothing to wait outside.
Thanks for reading and helping us help your child to be ready for school each day!
Sincerely,
Eric Larson, Principal
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING ON HALLOWEEN
Students have the option to "dress up" for Halloween on Monday, October 31. Here are a few guidelines:
- No masks or inappropriate props (inappropriate props include weapons and look-alike weapons).
- No blood or violent themes.
- The regular Lincoln dress code applies (no exposed undergarments, no inappropriate images or words, etc.).
- "Dressing up" for Halloween does not have to mean a traditional costume. You may choose to wear orange and/or black or simply choose to wear a favorite sports team jersey.
- Any costume deemed by a teacher to be inappropriate or interferes with the lesson will not be allowed and the student will be sent to the office.
If you have any questions regarding these guidelines, please feel free to contact Mr. Steen. (rsteen@d57.org)
