Brenda Mehling Cancer Fund
Brenda was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late twenties, when she realized that the health care system was not equipped to meet many patients' day-to-day needs through months of treatment. Brenda and BMCF past president, Kieran Wong, founded the BMCF in February 2001.
Since the inception in 2001, it has helped 525 young adults, providing $329,631 in support services. Brenda built the Fund for young adults to maintain self-respect during months of treatment and minimize the stress of associated financial challenges. Even though she is no longer with us, we continue to work to fulfill her vision of a nationwide organization that helps young adults fight - and beat - the disease.
