Asian:

  • What are the food groups that they include and omit? The food groups that they include are: breads, cereals, rice, pasta, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish and protein. They omit fruit and milk, yogurt, and cheese.


  • What are the Health Effects and Benefits? The Health Effects would be stomach cancer and the Benefits are plenty of vitamins and minerals and a low obesity rate.

Caribbean:

  • What are the food groups that they include and omit? The food groups that they include are rice, fried bread, plantains, citrus fruit, tropical fruits, ackee, beans peas, shellfish, goat, pork, chicken, salt fish, dries cod, and jerked meat spices. They omit vegetables, milk, yogurt and cheese.


  • What are the Health Effects and Benefits? Low Vitamin A and protein-energy malnutrition.

Indian:

  • What are the food groups that they include and omit? They include basmati rice, wheat, curry, chilies, coconuts, mangoes, tamarinds, yogurt, sweetened dairy foods, legumes, almonds, pistachios, chicken, goat, ghee, masala, spices and herbs. They don't omit and of the food groups.

Latino/Hispanic:

  • What are the food groups that they include and omit? Wheat and corn tortillas, hominy, potatoes, peppered, tomatoes, onions, jacamar, avocados, papayas, bananas, cheese, geek, shrimp, chicken, beans, and chickpeas. They don't omit any of the food groups.


  • What are the Health Effects and Benefits? Diabetes, hypertension stroke.

Mediterranean/Middle Eastern:

  • What are the food groups that they include and omit? Bulgur wheat, couscous, pita bread, stuffed vegetables, parsley, mint, cucumbers, garlic leeks/onions, apricots, dates, figs, melons, pomegranate, soft cheese, yogurt, lamb, lentils, pistachios, phyllo pastries, coffee, tea and olives. They don't omit any of the food groups.


  • What are the Health Effects and Benefits? Northern areas= Cancer. Southern areas= none. A benefit is that It is a healthy diet.

Native American:

  • What are the food groups that they include and omit? Hominy, grits, fried bread, biscuits, tomatoes, corn, collards, peppers, pumpkins, squash, corn, sweet potatoes, turnips, mustard, berries, apples, buttermilk, raw milk, butter, deer, quail, turkey, wild game, pork sausage, liver pudding, country ham, barbecue, dried fruits, and dried meats. They don't omit any food groups.
