For Your Information & Action
Tuesday 3/19 Faculty Meeting: The faculty meeting on Tuesday will be an MCAS technology training. All staff, including paras, will need to attend (except 9th grade experience teachers who will have their own meeting).
Quarter 4 Schedules: Click here for the quarter 4 master schedules.
Tutor Wanted: Tutor a student at the Worthington library or Conwell school in Worthington 4-7 hours/week in Algebra 2 and English 10. She is taking the courses online but could use some in person support. $40/hour.
Sharing Classroom Space: As a reminder, classrooms may need to be used during prep times for other classes to take place. Please be a gracious host and allow the students/teacher in to the space--we understand it is not ideal for your room to be used during your prep time, but we purposely scheduled duties in classrooms only once out of the rotation or in rooms of team leaders and program leaders since they have an additional prep.
Student Leadership Workshop: On April 26, there will be a student leadership workshop for Western MA schools at Hampshire Regional. It is sponsored by the MIAA. We plan to use the auditorium, library, cafeteria and gym for this event. It should not affect classes other than having 100+ more students in the building on that day.
Guest Speaker Casey McQuillen:
The Middle School Student Council presents the "You Matter" Tour with guest speaker Casey McQuillen. The presentation will be held on March 19th during blocks 5 and 6 (periods 7 and 1) in the auditorium. Teachers are asked to have middle school students come to their period 7 class for attendance and leave all materials and backpacks in your room. Then please bring your students down to the auditorium for 1230pm. The students will sit by teams. Facing the stage to the far left will be Team Rocky Mountain, to the far right will be Matterhorn and in the center first Everest then Team Greylock. Please reserve the front row for all middle school student council across the whole front of the auditorium. This event will last until 130pm-145pm. Students will then go to period 1 last block of the day after retrieving their backpacks.
Casey will be using original songs and her journey on American Idol as metaphors to speak with students about bullying, self-confidence, and and the benefit of taking risks. There will also be time for a Question and Answer with Casey.
MCAS
All MCAS information will be posted to the Shared MCAS Folder.
At this point, you will be able to find testing groups for 7th, 8th, and 10th grade ELA and Math MCAS. Teacher schedules for 10th grade ELA MCAS are posted, as well as teacher schedules for middle school ELA and Math MCAS (schedules for middle school MCAS are based off quarter four schedules so check out the master schedule above, too).
There have been many room changes school-wide so please look at all of these documents to see if your schedule has been affected, and let Lauren know if you see any issues or have questions!
Please keep in mind that these are working documents and changes may be made due to IEP/504 changes and technology needs.
Staff Shout Outs!
Collaboration and Engagement:
- Thanks to Grayson DeWitt and Jake Fitzgerald for arranging the Veteran's Education Program (VEP) to present to the students in the 1960's Quarter Course. The students were able to meet a Vietnam veteran and discuss his experiences, which greatly enhanced their understanding of the war in Vietnam.
- Tonya Aitken has shared her prep time to help Geoff Casey's economics students navigate the technological intricacies of the Stock Market Game.
Respect and Compassion:
- Shout out to Erin Mahon-Moore for going above and beyond for a student last weekend!
