Magnet Schools
NISD offers school choice to 8th grade students moving to High School.
There are 13 comprehensive high schools offering a variety of school programs.

The window for magnet school applications is Nov. 27th-Jan. 16th
Magnet School Important Dates
- Tuesday, January 16th - HS Magnet Online Application closes
- Friday, January 26th - HS Magnet Acceptance Letters are sent to students
- Friday, February 9th - HS Magnet Acceptance Decision deadline
Brennan HS
Go Bears!
Luna Middle School students, as per NISD attendance, are in the feeder pattern for Brennan HS.
That means that the majority of our students will attend Brennan HS.
Below you will find the course selection guide for high school as well as endorsement information and programs of study that can be found at Brennan.
Current 8th grade students will attend a field trip to Brennan HS to received more information on Monday January 8th from 8:40-12:00.

9th Grade Course Selection Information
Advanced Academics- High School
Spanish Placement
For 8th Grade Students
Current 7th or 8th grade students, who are not currently enrolled in Spanish 1 may be assessed for the opportunity to test into a higher level of Spanish based on prior language or dual language experience. Students will be assessed in the Spring (March) and may be eligible for taking a higher level Spanish course and once successfully completing that course will receive high school language credit for the previous courses in the sequence.
For example: A student may take the exam and test into Spanish 3. Once successfully completing Spanish 3, they will receive credit for both Spanish 1 and Spanish 2.

Dual Credit
For Current Spanish 2 Students
Any currently Spanish 2 student will be assessed for eligibility for the opportunity for Dual Credit enrollment through Spanish 3 Dual Credit in high school. Dual credit allows student to earn high school credit as well as college credit (through Northwest Vista Community College) simultaneously.
This assessment is administered through Spanish 2 courses from Nov. 27th-Dec 1st.
