PRAIRIE POST

December 6, 2019

Message from the Principal

Hello Prairie Families,

It’s December, and we cannot believe how fast the year is flying by! We’ve welcomed several new families since the beginning of the year, and it never hurts to revisit our procedures at Prairie, so I’m sharing some important reminders around our school routines and practices. Please take some time to read the following letter: Mid-Year Communication.

We are looking forward to a lot of exciting events taking place at Prairie as the holiday season approaches. Throughout the upcoming weeks, we will also be mindful of sticking to our consistent routines so that our learners are able to feel safe and are able to remain engaged up through when we dismiss for winter break.

  • On December 13th we will celebrate the Hour of Code with students from all over the world! On this day our classes will pair up to engage in coding activities.
  • On December 16th our whole school will gather together to watch the 4th/5th grade dress rehearsal for their upcoming concert. This will take place from 9:00-9:45am in the gym. If there are any parents or family members who are unable to attend the 4th/5th grade music concert on Tuesday, December 17th at 6:30pm, you are welcome to join us for the dress rehearsal.
  • On December 20th our whole school will have a pajama day and come together for a sing along. Classes will pair up for parts of the afternoon to engage in buddy reading and other activities to celebrate the season.

I hope to see many of you at Movie Night tonight hosted by our PTA at 6:00pm!

Have a great weekend!

Staff Spotlight - Ms. Sowinski

My name is Emily Sowinski. Currently, I am teaching my third year of special education at Prairie. Prairie is uniquely special to me because I attended kindergarten through six grade here! I live with my parents (Bryan and Jane) and our dog Belle in Waukesha. My two older brothers (Erik and Andy) live in Iowa City, Iowa. Presently, I am pursuing my master's degree in Special Education Leadership at Wisconsin Lutheran College. Outside of school, I enjoy taking Pure Barre classes, running, and the company of my family and friends.
