Friday Flight

September 16-20

Ceiling mounted projectors

The ceiling-mounted LCD projectors are on fixed mounts. They're not meant to be swiveled or adjusted. Please see me to problem-solve if that impacts the way you utilize your projector for instruction.

Middle School Visitors

It is great when students value their relationships here and want to come back to visit. In order to keep them, you, and the building safe and secure, students that come to visit Lowell must sign in with the office and have an 'appointment' with staff. We'll page the staff member they are meeting. If you see unattended middle school students in the building, please help us by asking them to go to the office and sign in.

PLC Membership

Thanks to those of you who shared the information I requested; if you haven't, please do so at your earliest opportunity.

Please send me a brief update from your PLC this week including the following:

  • PLC members
  • Norms
  • Any needs or concerns

Resource, Instructional, ELL, Reading & Speech staff should all be part of a grade level PLC. If that means you, please see me if you'd like to discuss what might be the best fit for you. If you were part of a PLC last year that was a good fit, feel free to continue your work there. When we have Google accounts, you'll be able to just keep your notes in a Google doc & simply add me as a viewer; then you won't have to send them to me.

Lowell Committees

I'd like to meet with the BLT quickly next Friday as noted in Next Week's Events. Typically, I would not schedule this for Friday, but I have an appointment on Tuesday and I don't want to prolong a check-in with BLT. Thanks for understanding!

If you haven't done so , please add your name to this spreadsheet under any committee of which you are a part. If there are other committees at Lowell that I've missed, please feel free to add them. You can type right on the spreadsheet & it will autosave/update.

Lowell Memo- Issue #2

You can check that out here. You might be particularly interested in the iPad mention in the PTA section :)

Join the PTA!

As our PTA supports us in so many ways, we'd like to show our appreciation and support by becoming members. Our goal this year is 100% teacher membership. Please see me if you have any questions or concerns.

Tech Tip- Wonderopolis

Wonderopolis is a wonderful resource to engage student curiosity and integrate some informational text. Different 'wonders' are posted daily. As with any web tool, please preview what you're sharing before you're sharing with students. You'll note that on the left tool bar, there is an Educator Sandbox button with some educator specific content. Please see me if you're interested in using this in your class or if I can be of any help. Students can also access and explore this at home! If you're an iPhone user, there is also a free app.
