Counselor Lunches: Every Tuesday in April
Every Tuesday during both lunches, counselors will be in the commons. We can help with general questions and/or questions seniors have about scholarships, and more! Come see us – we’re here to help!

- DECISION DAY! May 1st @GHS – seniors will be celebrated for decisions they’ve made for their futures over lunches
- Diesel Day May 5th @ PCC Rock Creek (permission slips available soon)
- Military Signing Day May 9th @ 1st or 2nd lunch – all seniors who are headed into the Military will be celebrated like our student athletes
- Hermanas Conference May 12 @ PCC (20 spots for 9/10 Latinas interested in STEM)
- AAYLC Asian American Conference May 12 @ Concordia (after spring break, we will pull in all 9-12 students who might have an interest) www.aaylc.org/conference
- Welding Fieldtrip May 19 @PCC Swan Island and PCC Rock Creek (permission slips available soon)
*We will also be hosting lunch options throughout April and May for interested students regarding social justice programs at colleges and “senior talks” where underclassmen can ask questions/get advice from seniors following May 1st DECISION DAY! Seniors will be invited with multiple career paths: military, missions, work, college, apprenticeships, etc.

Additional Job Shadow Opportunities:
Any student may attend either event and use it as a job shadow credit. Simply get excused through attendance, fill out a CRLE packet (in counseling center), and let us know you attended by handing in the paperwork filled out.
- Apprenticeship Career Fair April 27 9-noon PCC Willow Creek 241 SW Edgeway Dr., Beaverton, OR 97006 Rooms 103 & 104. Apprenticeships/Exhibitors present (over 20!): examples include: Construction Craft Laborers, Sheet Metal Institute Local 16, Pacific NW Ironworkers – Local 29, Pacific NW Carpenters Institute, Cement Masons & Plasterers 555, Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1, and many more! We have fliers in the counseling center if you’d like more information.
- Hands-on Construction Day: Clark County Fairgrounds, April 11. For students interested in construction, including machinery and farming equipment. Apprenticeship information will be available as well. Example of industries present: NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center, Ness &Campbell Crane, PAPE, PNW Carpenters, ODOT, & more! - If you have not confirmed whether you have finished your .5 career credit, swing into the counseling center and talk with Mrs. Pate.
- If you do not know if your credits/senior project/essential skills are all set, see your school counselor (Buyas A-L, Dortch M-Z).
- If you do not know if your cap/gown is ordered, contact Jostens: Dan Peters (503) 690-7488 or dan.peters@jostens.com
- If you need a transcript, see your counselor or the counseling center secretary.
- If you need help with your FAFSA or ORSAA, the Oregon Promise (due 4/1 for early notification and 7/1 for final deadline), local scholarship applications, or making a plan, make an appointment with Mrs. Fields.
Seniors: Local Scholarships

Note: Two Scholarships with new deadlines (paper copies in counseling center): (1) Bernie Kuehn Music Scholarship ($1000 – due April 15) for HSD students pursuing a music degree. (2) Hillsboro YAC Community Service Spirit Scholarship ($200 – due April 17) for HSD students who have done community service and would write about education, environment, and equality as pillars in the lives of a community.
