The Living Wax Museum
Where people from the past came back to life!
Our Highlights: What We've Been Rockin' At!
First off, what amazing second graders! They did fantastic during the Living Museum! Thank you to those who were able to join us for our Living Wax Museum! In case you missed it or want to share the event with someone who missed it, you can see the video above. The students worked really hard and it was great to see them shine with pride during and after the museum.
We focused this week on really reflecting on our learning during our project and the people that we learned about as well as thinking and relating that back to us. Students made great connections between the people we learned about and what all of them had in common. Noticing similarities between Difference Makers is not so easy when those heroes all came from different places, time periods, and made such big differences in different ways. Here are some of the student quotes from the conversation, "They all worked hard and tried their best," "They never gave up, even when things were hard," "They created something special or did something special," "They were brave," and "They wanted to make a positive change."
After reflecting on the heroes from the past, we came up with ways that we can individually or collectively make a positive difference as well. They first brainstormed in their groups. Then we did a gallery walk after to see what other groups came up with and then followed it by coming back to our groups and discussing our connections and ideas more. Thinking about how we can all make a difference individually is important, but sometimes we can make a bigger difference together. We came back together as a class and brainstormed what we could do as a class to make a difference in the world together. We had a great discussion and I can't wait to continue it and set up a class plan next week!
