Welcome Back to School!
2016-2017: Leading the Way!
Back to School Schedule
We hope you are having a fabulous summer! As I write this, it's currently raining like mad outside! Perfect weather to be inside working!
Page and I are very excited about the upcoming school year! We are proud to be the first school to be evaluated using the new guidelines for school effectiveness, and we have a great deal of information to share with you and are very interested in hearing YOUR thoughts about this process. As always, we are leading the way in a cutting-edge county, and we couldn't be prouder! All of the hard work you have done continues to pay off in big dividends; now our task is to search a little deeper and see if there are other ways we can continue to ensure that all students succeed.
SBLT members will get together Friday, July 29th, at 9 AM. We will provide lunch for you, so plan to come and dig into our data as we decide our best areas for improvement this upcoming year. If for some reason you cannot attend, please just let me know. As always, ALL staff are invited to attend SBLT meetings, so join us if you are interested, even if you are not part of the official leadership team.
Our first full faculty meeting will be Monday, August 1, at 8:30 AM. At this meeting, we will talk more in detail about our upcoming Coweta Schools Effectiveness Evaluation (our new version of GAPSS) and how you can feel confident and prepared! We will share our professional learning plan for the year, talk about our advocacy initiative, have lunch provided by Northside Baptist Church, and reconnect after the summer! We hope to keep our housekeeping details brief, but as you know, there are items we are required to discuss each year, and with our school-wide review coming up in September, we want to be ready!
Tuesday, August 2nd, please plan to be here no later than 8 AM. We will have a safety review with SFC Adcock of the Georgia State Patrol--thanks to Nigel Lange for helping to coordinate this! After that, you will have the rest of your day to work in your classrooms. Ask for help in moving/lifting anything heavy! Lunch is on your own this day.
Wednesday, August 3rd, we will review orientation and first week duties, along with our safety plan, faculty handbook (in our Google Drive!), and beginning of the year procedures. We will also discuss our internal review of the school using the new CSEE rubrics. New teachers and staff members will be assigned mentors. PTA will provide lunch for us.
Thursday is our Orientation from 12-2.
Enjoy the rest of your time off! I know many of you are anxious about coming in to get set up. Unfortunately, we are a bit behind schedule on waxing due to having lost Mr. Omar and have just begun waxing the back hallway. Waxing will continue throughout the next few weeks. Please use this online planning tool as you think about arranging your classroom. I also wanted to share with you some resources from a wonderful site called the 40-Hour Teacher Week. I'll be adding to this folder each week, and you can access it here from your Google Drive. Hopefully these resources will give you a little peace of mind as you start thinking about the upcoming year. We plan to have the building ready for you to start coming in as soon as July 25--giving you an extra week before pre-planning begins. As always, we promise to try not to take up too much of your time with meetings! We know you understand (and appreciate) that our custodians need the time now to prepare the building to its usual sparkle before students return.
See you soon!
