CMS Families,
Thank you for your support as we will continue to monitor students protecting their Chromebooks by using the storage case when it is not in use. If their bookbag has an approved, built-in protective case, students are permitted to use that area for storage instead of carrying an additional item.
Since the return from winter break, Ms. Paroubek and I have observed several changes in our AM drop-off procedures causing longer drop-off times.
A Few Reminders:
- Student drop-off starts at 7:10 AM.
- Drivers should PULL UP and CLOSE ALL GAPS when dropping students off in the designated drop-off zones.
- Drivers using the middle driveway are stopping in front of the main office doors when they should use the entire sidewalk in front of the BOE. Two staff members are outside daily encouraging cars to move up.
- Drivers entering the south entrance and driving in front of CMS should have their student(s) exit the vehicle as soon as they stop along the sidewalk. Again, several drivers are waiting until they are closer to the main office doors to drop off their student(s).
- When exiting, cars should not drive across the parking lines in the upper BOE lot. Please drive around the marked lines to increase traffic flow.
- A significant increase in drop-off traffic has been observed from 7:30-7:35.
Throughout the year, the AM drop-off system has been very efficient when the procedures are followed. Consider dropping your student(s) off earlier, closing all gaps when in the drop-off zones, and having students ready to exit your vehicle. If students are not in their classroom by 7:40 AM ready to learn, they will be marked tardy.
Unfortunately, due to the calamity day, we had to cancel the Junior Achievement Day for 6th graders. We are in the process of finding an alternative date. The 4th, 5th and 7th grade "JA in a Day" events will take place in May.
The PTO has several future events planned for students, parents, and families. Take a look below, update your calendars and we hope to see you at the meeting in February.
