Distance Learning news and updates - April 30
REMINDER: No school May 1 and May 4
As part of the Governor’s order, May 1 and May 4 have been designated professional development days to allow staff to prepare for continued distance learning. There will be no school on May 1 or May 4. By May 5, the school district will post an updated distance learning plan to the website and communicate the updated plan with you.
Meal/material pick up schedules will not change as a result of these planning days. Meal/material pick will occur as planned on both May 1 (Friday), and May 4 (Monday). Click here to access the meal/material pick up schedule.
Youth Connections Expanding Hours
CORRECTION: This (April 27) Distance Learning News and Updates contained incorrect information about child care services since clarified by the Minnesota Dept. of Education. It has been updated as of April 28.
Youth Connections will continue to be available for Tier 1 and Tier 2 families, but the service cannot be made available to Tier 3 families at this time. For more information about who qualifies under Tiers 1 and 2, click here. Here is the corrected message:
Beginning Tuesday, May 5, Youth Connections will be expanding hours and services to include all state critical worker’s families with children ages 4-12 as defined by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Please see the hours of service and fee schedule below. Note that there is no charge for Youth Connections during the regular school hours of 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. for Tier 1 and Tier 2 families.
Youth Connections will be open from 5:45 a.m. - 6 p.m. and will offer the following additional opportunities for fee-based child care:
Fee Schedule
5:45 a.m. - 7 a.m. = $7 per day (Tier 1 and 2 only)
7 a.m. - 3 p.m. = No Charge (Tier 1 and 2 only)
3 p.m. - 6 p.m. = $11 per day (Tier 1 and 2 only)
In order to ensure the safety of the children and staff in the program, attending children's temperatures will be taken upon arrival and again at midday.
If a child in school district care is found to have a fever or be ill, parents/guardians will be contacted immediately and will be expected to pick up their child(ren) as soon as possible. Students will be immediately separated from other students while awaiting pick up.
Transportation will be provided for Tier 1 and 2 families. Please contact Youth Connections at (651) 674-1029 for more information. Routes, pickup and dropoff times will remain the same.

Need tech support for a district-provided device?
If you need technical support for your district-provided device, please email the Technology Department at parentsupport@isd138.org and describe the issue you are having. Staff will determine if the issue is something that can be addressed remotely or if a replacement device will be issued. Families are looking for ways to save money in uncertain times. One way to reduce the cost of education is to qualify for free and/or reduced lunch prices. Families who qualify not only receive reduced, or free, student lunch service, they can also benefit from free student extracurricular activities.
