CMS Friday Focus
Chesterton Middle School Newsletter - April 29, 2022
Message from Mr. Hamacher
Good evening CMS families!
I wanted to remind you that Duneland Schools will have an eLearning Day on May 3. CMS teachers will post their assignments in Canvas. CMS teachers will also have office hours from 10:00-11:00 am and 2:00-3:00 pm. They will be available via Canvas and email to provide support and answer any questions that students may have during that time.
We have concluded our ILEARN Assessments for both Math and English/Language Arts. We will continue doing make-up tests for those students who were not able to test at the regularly scheduled times over the next couple of weeks. 8th grade students who are currently enrolled in Biology will be taking the Practice Biology ILEARN Assessment on May 5 and the Biology ILEARN Assessment on May 10.
I’d like to give a special shout-out to the CMS Robotics Teams! They performed so well at the state competition that three teams will be competing at Worlds next week in Dallas, Texas! The following students will be competing at this event: Kenzie Kania, Paige Engels, Lincoln Rhoda, Ethan Glassman, William Morgan, Keith Ward, Ray Hundt, Alex Kozinski, and Will Roberson. Congratulations and good luck to these students, their families, and the coaches!
Duneland School Corporation is currently conducting a series of surveys with our students, families, and staff. Information from these surveys will be used for school improvement and district strategic planning. Additionally, these results will be used as part of our Cognia (formerly AdvancED) accreditation processes.
Input from our families is critical to our process to set goals for improvement. We thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts. This survey should take 20-25 minutes to complete and includes some ranking questions as well as open-ended questions at the end.
Use this link to take the Survey: Family Survey Spring 2022
Please note the following when taking the surveys:
- You need only complete one survey per household.
- When selecting a school, select the school of your youngest child.
- The term “governing body” refers to our school board.
- The term “stakeholders” refers to all those with an interest in the school including students, families, community members, and school staff.
We truly appreciate you setting aside the time to offer your thoughts before Monday, May 2, 2022.
Wishing you all a nice, relaxing weekend!
Respectfully,
Mike Hamacher
CMS Principal
