NEWS FROM DR. CHAUSSEE
We have been administering the MAP test in reading and mathematics this month for the second time this year. We feel the information gained from these two assessments is extremely helpful for teachers as they plan their daily lessons. We also have been giving the science test in fifth grade. The results will be shared with you in a similar fashion as we have with reading and mathematics in the February conferences
Millard uses the online learning program from Edmentum called Exact Path in all grades. Exact Path is a digital tool that is designed to support classroom instruction in language arts and mathematics. Students are placed on a learning path according to their needs as identified by Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) scores as explained above. Exact Path has a list of engaging lessons and fun learning activities just right for each student. Students can earn rewards and monitor their own progress each step of the way. Your child will be using Exact Path at school, but he or she can also continue their learning at home! Hopefully all students know their log-ins. A lot more information can be found at this link: https://www.nwea.org/content/uploads/2017/08/Parent-Guide.pdfIf.
We use our MAP scores to indicate which students are struggling in math or reading. Students in grades K-3 that fall below the MAP threshold as determined by the state will have additional one on one or small group instruction and testing. We track those students’ data and continue to offer support. Teachers will communicate with parents of those students. If you want more information, contact your child’s teacher or me.

IB PROGRAM
Elementary Parents and Guardians, Millard Public Schools prides itself on being a district of choice, providing a variety of opportunities and specialized programs that allow parents and guardians to choose the best path for their students.
