Countryside is once again participating in the Six Flags Read to Succeed Program. If your child completes 6 hours (360 minutes) of unassigned, recreational reading, they will earn a free ticket to Six Flags Great America to enjoy next summer.

NEW THIS YEAR…eReading Logs

Parents will now have the ability to register their child using their classroom teacher’s unique code and simply keep track of their reading minutes on the website. Countryside's Annual Scripps Spelling Bee

Who: 1st - 5th Grade Countryside Students

When: Thursday, January 16, 2020

Where: Countryside Multipurpose Room & Library

Why: A spelling bee is much more than an opportunity to compete in a supportive environment. It helps to promote literacy and study skills by providing children with a positive goal to work toward. It can motivate children to develop an interest in learning new words and gaining competency over vocabulary. The benefits of spelling bees even extend beyond language. Since children must spell words while on stage, they also develop self-confidence, public speaking skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure. These are lessons that can last a lifetime and benefit all participants.

If your child is interested, please register by December 20, 2019.
