MEMS Principal's Update
Spring 2022
Dr. Michael Fiorillo
Students of the Month
Graduation
Each graduate will receive three (3) tickets for the ceremony. These tickets will be in an envelope that will be stapled in the cap and gown package, which will be distributed on Monday, June 20, 2022. We are unable to provide additional tickets or duplicates. Brookdale Community College strictly enforces its rules regarding fire code regulations and seating capacity. Therefore, please secure your tickets, as you will need them to enter Collins Arena. DO NOT CONTACT THE MEMS OFFICE TO INQUIRE ABOUT EXTRA TICKETS. THERE ARE NONE.
The dress code for graduation is that we request students not to wear jeans, shorts or sneakers. Their dress should reflect the dignity of the occasion.

Dress Code Reminders
As the weather gets warmer it is important to remember that there is a school dress code. This is particularly important for gym and science classes, where safety is an issue. The following attire is prohibited:
Short shorts/skirts which reveal the upper thigh and/or undergarments.
Shorts and skirts must be of “fingertip” length
Sheer layers, tank tops, midriff, halter, and other tops with spaghetti straps which reveal the abdomen, chest or undergarments
Shirts and shorts/skirts – must overlap (no skin should be exposed)
Flip flops, slipper-type shoes, or other unsafe footwear
Spiked or studded jewelry, oversized or multi-finger rings, chains, or any other attire with spikes or studs attached
Attire which may be dangerous in particular school settings, i.e., sandals in a science lab or technology room
Clothing that may have offensive or inappropriate writing/pictures on it
Head coverings of any kind with the exception of those garments worn for religious reasons
Coats, jackets, or other attire normally worn as outerwear.
Thank you for your help with this important issue.

Chromebooks
This year, we will NOT be collecting Chromebooks from our 7th grade students. Their assigned Chromebook can be used for summer assignments but should always be kept in their carrying case when not in use. The attached will be shared with our 7th Grade students regarding Chromebook care.
8th Grade Chromebook collection is on Thursday, June 16th during homeroom before Graduation practice. Student and loaner CBs will be disabled the morning of June 16th.
