Introduction
How did the organization begin and grow into what it is now?
The organization has grown since it was first founded. “The founder and president of family promise is Karen Olson.”(charity navigator.org) The reason Karen founded this great charity that the supports and helps the homeless people in many ways is because when she was younger she use to see a lot of homeless families,” It was founded in union county, NJ on October 27, 1986.”( family promise.org) This means that Karen founded family promise in union county where she lived in her childhood. This organization is growing and growing as the years pass by. It has come a very long way from 1986-2015 but it is still growing to be a bigger and more effective charity to our community in the united states.
The organization has stayed the same purpose over the years since it was founded but there were some good additions to the charity. Their motto has stayed the same,” To building communities, strengthening lives of homeless families or individual people.”( familypromise.org). This means that they want to improve so many peoples lives that it will make an entire community better. This charity recognizes many things about poverty and how it leads to homelessness. “ We recognize that poverty is a multifaceted problem that requires a multifaceted response.” This means that poverty can lead to homelessness and is a multifaceted problem that needs to be solved. This can lead to homelessness because if you are very poor do not have enough money to live in a home you will be homeless. Family Promise solves tens of thousands of problems in peoples lives each year about homelessness.
