OPTIONS HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHT ~ Unable to Contact (found on page 17): Regular communication with CCS Educational Facilitators is essential for a scholar's success at CCS. If you are planning to be unavailable to communicate with your scholar’s Educational Facilitator for a period of time, please notify the Educational Facilitator so that proper arrangements to monitor your scholar's progress and attendance can be made. Due to the enrollment requirements of CCS, if CCS staff are unable to reach the scholar and/or learning coach for 10 consecutive days, an evaluation will be conducted by CCS to determine whether it is in the best interest of the pupil to remain in independent study.
OPTIONS ROUNDTABLE ~ Did you miss last week’s Roundtable discussion? We had some great shares from EFs and parents about free educational resources. Although it’s always ideal to be there live and part of the discussion, we wanted to share the recording with you in case you couldn’t make it.
OCLC CAMPUS TOUR ~ Interested in finding out more about our Navigators’ Community at our Orange County Learning Center in Santa Ana? Come join us for a tour of our campus this Thursday, April 4 at 9:30 am. For more information, contact Linda Larson at llarson@compasscharters.org.

MULTI -TIERED SYSTEMS OF SUPPORTS (MTSS) ~ This week’s tip is focused on how learning coaches play an important role within the MTSS framework. Learning coaches play a critical role in supporting what their scholars are learning in school. Research is clear that the more learning coaches are involved in their scholar’s learning, the higher the scholar achievement. They can be involved in the process by communicating any concerns they may have to their scholar’s teacher, providing insight into their scholar’s learning and development, and assisting with identified interventions at home, such as using a reward system for positive behavior and academic achievement.
COLLEGE RESOURCES
Upcoming SAT Registration Deadline ~ Juniors, do you still need to register for the upcoming SAT exam on Saturday, May 4? Don’t miss the registration deadline, which is this Friday, April 5. Learn more about the SAT and registration.
WebGrants 4 Students (WGS) ~ Seniors, have you created your WebGrants 4 Students account? The goal is to provide you with the resources, information and tools needed to assist you with the college financial aid process. WGS will allow you to manage your Cal Grant and/or Chafee account(s) online by letting you view updates, make school changes, make address changes, make corrections, and post leave of absence requests. It is important for you to understand that your WGS account does not replace your school or FAFSA accounts. Each account must be monitored and managed independently.
