Today is Half-Day for Students
Don't forget that today is a half-day of school for students. We will serve breakfast and lunch as normal. Car riders and drivers will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Bus riders will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. The remaining half-days for this school year are February 13th, and April 17th. On these days, only students will be dismissed early and employees will participate in professional development for the remainder of the day.

Calling EVERYONE: Million Dollar Shootout at Richland Golf Center hosted by HG Baseball TOMORROW from 8am-4pm. Qualifying costs: $1.00 =1 ball, $10.00=12 balls $15.00=20 balls, $20.00=30 balls. Unlimited shots to qualify. Qualifiers will return on Sunday at 2pm to receive a prize and shoot for One Million Dollars. Email jlovell@madison.k12.al.us with any questions.

France/Italy Trip - Mrs. Braudaway is planning a trip to France and Italy in early summer of 2016. There will be an informational meeting Thursday, November 13 at 6:30 in Mrs Braudaway's room (C112). Contact Mr. Braudaway at jbraudaway@ madison.k12.al.us with questions.
Robotics Club Fundraisers - The Robotics Club will be selling HEXBugs: Microrobots starting on Thursday, October 30th. Prices are $5.00 and $8.00. See a robotics student to purchase. They are also selling Gourmet Popcorn. Orders will be back in time for Christmas Break. Deadline to order is Thanksgiving Break.
The Hazel Green High School Theater Department is proud to present a night of comedy on November 3rd and 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the Black Box Theater. They will perform two short plays: Caution: Politricks and 13 Ways to Screw Up your College Interview. Tickets can be pre-purchased for either night from members of the cast and crew for $5.00, or bought on the night of performance for $7.00.
Linen Fundraiser - The HGHS band is selling The Elson Company Cloud Comfort Luxury Linens now through October 31. They are $39 a set and come in twin, xl twin, full, queen, king, and California king. Each set is brushed micro-fiber and offers the softness and feel of 1500 thread count sheets. They have deep pockets to accommodate for oversized mattresses. Plus they are wrinkle free and have a continuous elastic for a slip free fit. All sets come with one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and two pillowcases (twin only has one pillow case) and come in the colors gold, chocolate, light tan, sage, aqua, grey, white, dark tan, navy blue, eggplant, and dark red. HGHS is giving the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Test (ASVAB) on November 5th. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success. It's open for all juniors and seniors on a voluntary basis. Moores Mill Intermediate Warrior Run 5K - Join us Saturday, November 8 to raise money for a playground for MMIS students. Late registration begins at 7:00 AM, 5K race 8:00 AM, “Warrior Trek” obstacle course (for students in K – 6 grade) 9:00 AM, and Awards 9:30 AM. Cost is $25 by October 10 ($35 late registration). HGHS Band Night at Lawler's - Lawler’s Express BBQ in Meridianville will be hosting a restaurant night for the HGHS Band on Monday, November 3rd from 5-8 pm. 15% of your purchase will be donated back to the band. All money donated will be put towards the purchase of new uniforms. Let the cashier know that you are there for the band when you place your order and present the flyer. You can print your flyer from the HGHS Marching Trojan FB page. Flyers will also be available at the door.
Pizza Hut in Meridianville has designated the first Tuesday of every month as Meridianville Eagles Boys Basketball Night. Pizza Hut will donate 10% of all earnings from 4:00pm-9:00pm for anyone who mentions MVMS Boys Basketball when ordering - dine-in, carryout, or delivery!

Huntsville Hospital Athlete of the Week - Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement. All weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor in May, and two students are selected as Athletes of the Year. The two Athletes of the Year each receive a $1,000 scholarship. Trojan Daily Tips - All the newest information will be at the top, followed by our Athletic Schedules, Current Announcements, Senior Information and Permananent Announcements. Information from previous newsletters remains posted in Current Announcements until it expires. I welcome parents to send scores, pictures and updates from any Hazel Green sports or activities. We can't brag about it if we don't know about it. Scholarship and college visit information will only be posted once, and then it can be found on separate webpages for General Scholarships, College and University Scholarships, and School Visits and Special Programs.
Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.
Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend - Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.
1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.
2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.
3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.
Juniors Have Free Access to ACT Online Prep - All juniors received a personal user name and password to the ACT Online Prep website. This is a great resource to be used in preparing for the ACT Plus Writing assessment which will be given to all of our juniors during school. All students are strongly encouraged to utilize this service provided to us. For more information, visit http://www.actstudent.org/onlineprep/.
First Priority/FCS meets every Tuesday morning at 8:00 in the Choir Room. All students are welcome to attend.
Parenting Assistance Line: PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.
Recycle: Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.
Reward Cards: Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit: Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.
Loyalty Reward Tags: (Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag. Just stop by the main office to pick one up.
