RMS Wildcat Weekly
January 8th, 2021 Information for our Families
Greetings Wildcat Families!
First semester ends on January 29th, and second semester will officially begin on February 1st. Our counselors are working to make schedule changes based on the learning model registration that everyone completed prior to winter break. They will be communicating with students via email with their new schedules, and these schedules will be effective on February 1st. While they are working hard to keep schedules the same for students who are not switching models, there still might be some changes due to shifting of many schedules schoolwide. Students who are switching models WILL have different classes and will very likely switch teachers, although counselors are doing their best to keep students with their same teachers and in their same electives.
Thank you so much for your continued commitment, support, and collaboration. Enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Heather Golly
Semester 1 is coming to an end
Semester 2 of 2020-21 for middle schools will be on February 1st, 2021.
Message to Our Community
Without a doubt, the violent acts that occurred at the US Capitol Building on Wednesday, January 6, were difficult for all of us to experience. I was disheartened and saddened by the violence that we all witnessed, but I am encouraged by the reactions of so many that I have seen who are denouncing the violence and coming together to support justice and democracy. As adults, it's difficult to grapple with troubling times, and as educators and parents, it can be challenging to support students as they try to process what they are witnessing. This is compounded by the stresses we are already feeling due to the pandemic. As a school, we are committed to creating safe, welcoming, inclusive environments for our students in order for them to feel comfortable expressing the feelings that they may be experiencing.
If your student(s) need to speak to someone about their concerns, please reach out to one of our school counselors, Ms. Licona and Mr. Way, and our social worker Ms. Robertson.
Contact information is below:
Counselors: Nancy Licona: nancylicona@vistausd.org & Cory Way: coryway@vistausd.org
Social Worker: Staci Robertson: stacirobertson@vistausd.org
Roosevelt Staff will continue to attend to the emotional needs of our students while continuing to engage them in valuable learning experiences. Roosevelt Middle School is committed to our values of respect, trust, collaboration, and equity and to ensuring that we maintain a caring environment for all students and families based on these principles. Our community as a whole includes many perspectives, beliefs, lived experiences, and backgrounds. Regardless of our political beliefs, it is paramount that we move forward together as neighbors, as friends, and ultimately, as Americans.
Sincerely,
Heather Golly
