Indications and Features
A syndrome that is the common form of inherited mental retardation. Individuals with this condition have development delay, variable levels of mental defect and lastly, behavioral and emotional difficulties.
Qualities and Aspects
- Sex-linked
- People with this syndrome are bothered by certain sensations such as bright lights and loud noises
- Problems with speech and language
- Males are more affected by this syndrome than females.
Treatments and Outcomes
While there is currently no cure for Fragile X syndrome, there are many areas of treatment and intervention that can improve the lives of affected individuals and their families. Given the proper education, therapy, and support, all people with this condition can make progress.
