Photosynthesis, Transpiration, Respiration
Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis Definition:
- A process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy, normally from the Sun, into chemical energy that can be later released to fuel the organisms' activities
- How plants make their food
Photosynthesis Formula:
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) + Water (H2O) = (Sun) = Sugar (Glucose) (C6H12O6) + Oxygen (O2)
Transpiration
Transpiration Definition:
- The process by which moister is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of the leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere
- Essentially evaporation of water from plant leaves
Respiration
Respiration Definition:
- The movement of oxygen from the outside air to the cells within tissues, and the transport of carbon dioxide in the opposite direction
Respiration Formula:
Sugar (Glucose) (C6H12O6) + Oxygen (O2) = Water (H2O) + Carbon Dioxide (CO2) + Energy
