Mary's Mount Primary School

Term 2, Week 5 - 21 May 2021

Prayer for Confirmation Candidates

Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people,

so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent.

Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to Your voice.

Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfilment the good work

that You have begun in them.

As we prepare these children for Confirmation, make each of us an instrument of Your love.

Teach us to appreciate what is holy in others,

and to be patient with what we do not understand.

Deepen our faith in the Gospel and help us to pass it on by our example.

We pray that You will continue to guide us and sustain us.

Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Dear Parents and Carers

On Tuesday of this week our Year 6 Confirmation candidates met with Emeritus Bishop Hickey who will be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation for our students this evening. We ask you to keep our Confirmation candidates in your prayers. We thank Mr Stephen Sorgiovanni for preparing the children to receive this Sacrament.

"When Pentecost day came round, they had all met together, when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which filled the entire house in which they were sitting; and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves. Acts 2:1-4

The Holy Spirit gave the apostles the power, the might, the confidence, the boldness and the ability to begin the Church. They became extraordinary men and women, who were able to fulfill God’s purpose for them through the power of the Holy Spirit. At this time, let us know that the Holy Spirit is in us, guiding our way and supporting us to be courageous in our decision making.

I am pleased to inform you, since we have been monitoring the use of the girls toilet, we have observed respectful behaviours where good hygiene practices are in place. I thank the students for keeping each other accountable for the behaviours we wish to see in each other.

Mrs Stephanie Freeman will be heading off on parental leave at the end of Week 9, Term 2. Mrs Freeman has been busy making sure that the children of Mary's Mount Primary School are prepared for the up and coming 100th year Mass at the Cathedral on 17 June. She is also making sure that all Performing Arts and One Big Voice arrangements are underway for Term 3. We are in gratitude to her for her tireless efforts in the area of music and performing arts at our school.

I am pleased to announce that Mrs Sarah Skrzypek will be joining us for the remainder of the year. The curriculum area of ‘The Arts’ will be taught and assessed by Mrs Skrzpek, with drama being the focus.

The students of Mary’s Mount Primary School will continue with choir and participation in events, such as One Big Voice and the Catholic Performing Arts. Erin Leech and other staff members will be co-ordinating these events. We will be wishing Mrs Stephanie Freeman all the best at the end of Week 9 and welcome Mrs Sarah Skrzpek in Week 10 of this term.

God bless,

Emma Bell

Come on Mary's Mount Primary School !!! Let's get recycling and win a prize for our school. We are so pleased to be in partnership with Wonder.

Drop off your bread bags and bread tags to our MMPS Community Recycling Hub starting from Monday. We have placed a special collection bin for the bread bags and tags.

Let's stop all that nasty plastic from going into landfill. Bring it to school and you will not only be helping us to win a prize for our sustainable school, but you will also be doing your bit to help our environment stay clean and healthy.

Our 'Breakfast in the Park' event will be held on Sunday 12th September at Stirk Park in Kalamunda. This year's event is shaping up to be one of our best and will include many of your favourite activities as well as a few new items to help celebrate 100 years of schooling at MMPS. We are excited and enthusiastic about hosting this year's event but we will need lots of help from our families to ensure Breakfast in the Park remains an impressive and successful event for our school, so please get involved in join in the fun where you can!

Our next P&F Meeting will be held next Wednesday 26th May from 1.30pm in the Multi-Purpose Room and will have a focus on Breakfast in the Park activities. There are many positions - both small and large - that we would like to fill so please come along to the meeting and pop your name down for a little job. We'll make sure you are well supported and have lots of fun in the team. Many hands make light work - and the work more fun too!

Our final raffle of the year - the Tuition Fee Raffle - closes in two weeks so make sure you purchase your tickets soon. Tickets available via your Quickcliq account (under the Events tab), at or by scanning the QR code on the raffle flyer. Good luck!
