Aviator Beacon
September 3, 2021
Dear Aviators,
Thank you for attending Parent-Teacher Conferences last week! The teachers enjoyed meeting with each of you & sharing all the great progress your child has made. With your partnership, we can continue to work together to provide an education that encourages all students to be their best.
It's hard to believe we are half way through Quarter 1. We appreciate your flexibility, perseverance, & understanding as we navigate the new school year. As we continue to keep our community safe, we will be able to phase into more activities for our students & families. Thank you for continuing to follow the CUSD Health Protocols by practicing everyday healthy habits. We ask that you please keep your child(ren) home if they are demonstrating illness & contact the Health Office.
I hope you all have a restful & relaxing upcoming Fall Break!! Our break begins September 27th & we will welcome our students back on Tuesday, October 12th for the start of Quarter 2.
Take Care,
Mrs. Williams, Principal

Upcoming Aviator Events
Leader in Me
This week we are moving into Habit 3: Put First Things First. We will be discussing what our big rocks are & the importance of focusing on what’s important. Big Rocks are the most important things to do, whereas Small Rocks are the less important things.
How Do We Put Family Time First?
- Develop a family mission statement
- Schedule regular family meals
- Plan regular family activities
- Build family traditions
How Can You Help Your Child With Their Big Rocks?
- Ask them what they feel are their most important jobs or responsibilities
- Suggest they do the hardest part of their homework or chores first
- Describe the word 'procrastinate' to your child
W.I.G. Wednesday
Throughout the year, on Wednesdays, students come to the Front Office to be recognized for their achievements by the Principal, Mrs. Williams. Every time the bell rings, a student has made progress towards or met their goal.
Congratulations to our Kindergarten, 5th, & 6th grade students that celebrated this week!

Updated Quarantine Procedures...
August 23, 2021
Dear CUSD Families & Staff,
We are writing to inform you that the Maricopa County Department of Public Health has notified local school districts that they have the delegated authority to determine which contacts must be quarantined. This is outlined in the Arizona Revised Statutes Title 36, Chapter 6, Article 2 (36-624) and Arizona Administrative Code (R9-6-361)
Maricopa County Department of Public Health continues to follow CDC and Arizona Department of Public Health Services guidelines which defines close contact of a COVID-19 case as being any person within 6 feet for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more during a 24-hour period, regardless of whether masks were worn. Effective Wednesday, August 25, 2021 students who have close contact with an individual who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 and who are not fully vaccinated or have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days are to quarantine (stay home) for up to 10 days, per county mandate.
Students may shorten the duration of a quarantine in three ways:
- Quarantine may end after 7 days if no symptoms have occurred and a documented negative result has been provided to the school. If choosing to return after seven days, the test sample must have been collected at least five days after exposure.
- If your child has been fully vaccinated and you voluntarily submit proof to the school. If 14 days have passed since your second dose in a two-dose series (or two weeks after a single dose vaccine), you do not have to quarantine.
- If your child previously tested positive for COVID-19 by PCR or antigen test, recovered and then completed his/her isolation period in the last 90 days.
As a safety measure please keep your child home if ill or shows Covid-19 symptoms. We continue to highly recommend face coverings as an additional layer of mitigation. For updates and continuous information, click here to view our mitigation plan in its entirety.
