Bulldog Bulletin

New Britton Elementary - November 20, 2015

Principal's Message

Dear Bulldog Families,

November is a time for thanks, and there are so many things at New Britton to be thankful for. First and foremost, we are so thankful to have your children in our classrooms. Our children are so caring, inquisitive, and eager to learn. I have been in several first and third grade classrooms this week and have witnessed some great mathematical thinking in which students have taken charge of their learning and explained strategies to others. This is just one of many, many examples that validate the great teaching and learning that is taking place!

We are also thankful for our families! I am in awe of the parent support that I witness on a daily basis, especially as the PTO has been preparing for our Bulldog Blast. I cannot even count the number of unscheduled times parents and families “jump in to help.” Just this week, after our third grade music program, we cleaned up the gymnasium in record time with the help of several families…again just a few small examples…

I, personally, am SO THANKFUL for our wonderful Bulldog and HSE family of educators and support staff. We are so fortunate to have such a passionate, dedicated team. It truly takes a village to raise a child. Due to the short school week next week, there will not be a Bulldog Bulletin next week, so I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and restful Thanksgiving break. As always, thanks for partnering with us in education.

He will demonstrate taking questions through the Scientific Method. Parents, you will not want to miss this great opportunity to learn more about how to encourage scientific thinking and assist your young scientist with a science fair entry.

Morning drop-off reminder

The safety of our students, families, and staff is a top priority at New Britton. Please do not enter the main parking lot from 8:30-9:00 a.m. so that our buses can safely deliver students to school. Parents are welcome to drop their students off at the circular drive beginning at 8:40. Please pull up in between the orange cones and do not drop your students off until a staff member is available to assist them. For everyone's safety, please do not pass, even if your child has already exited your vehicle. After 8:55, a parent is required to walk their student into the office to sign him/her in. We thank you for taking these precautions to keep everyone safe.

A Message from our students....

"Hi. This is Ava, Cory, and Teryrone from Mr. Temple's class. We need your help. Our class asked how we could help our community be a better place so kids can have a happier life. We are doing a toy drive for Riley's Hospital and kids who don't have toys. New Britton kids can help by donating toys they don't play with anymore. Bring the toys to school in a bag marked DONATION and place the bag of toys in the donation boxes by the library. We are collecting donations until Thanksgiving. We want to make kids feel better so please bring in toys!"
