#STEINHAUER PROUD NEWSLETTER

2022 - 2023 Edition: Volume 1

Dear Parents and Families,

It's hard to believe we are already about to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday! Through my first few months here, it has been a pleasure getting to know each of your children and YOU our parents and guardians.

Over the first marking period, your children have been engaged in activities welcoming them back to school, building friendship and teamwork amongst classmates, and academic challenges that will help them blossom into the students and young people we know they can be.

As this is a time to give thanks, I want to thank you all for welcoming me into the Steinhauer and Maple Shade Community. I am thankful I get to work with your kids, and am very grateful for the amazing staff that are helping mold your children into positive, respectful, open-minded, understanding, and determined young people that exemplify our core values. I am truly looking forward to seeing all we can accomplish over the rest of the year! Enjoy your time with family and friends!

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

As the school year began, students and staff entered the building with a great deal of energy, excited to be back in the building! In addition to this, the welcome celebrations continued with our Back to School Night. It is very evident through the smiles on students and staff alike, as well as the large turnout of parents at BTSN, we are in store for a great year!

Is Your Child #SteinhauerProud?

Here at Steinhauer, we want our students to live by our five core values that make up the word, PROUD. We challenge everyone to be Positive, Respectful, Open-Minded, Understanding, and Determined. When staff members observe students displaying any of these core values, they will write a Proud Card to be sent home to parents/guardians, recognizing their great work. Be sure to check your mailboxes to see if your child has been rewarded!

WHO LIKES PIE?!

To reward our students for such a great start to the year, staff got down and dirty during our "Pie in the Face" event! Students were able to place their proud tickets into a raffle, which gave them the opportunity to pie their favorite staff members. As you can tell, EVERYONE had a great time!

MAPLE SHADE DAY

On October 10th, our newly elected Student Council officers were able to represent Steinhauer at Maple Shade Day! This day was an opportunity for the community to recognize Maple Shade's 100th year anniversary. It was a pleasure having our officers (Ava, Stevie, Jaden, Caylie, and Casey) place Steinhauer memorabilia into the time capsule to be opened 25 years from now!

WHAT DO I WANT TO BUY TODAY?

Throughout the school day, students are awarded Proud Tickets for a number of different things. Answering questions in class, helping a classmate find their way around the building, sharing supplies, and using their manners are just some of the ways they can earn these tickets. Each month, students are then able to redeem their tickets at our School Store! Check out some of the goodies!

MOVIE NIGHT, TRUNK OR TREAT, AND FAMILY TIME!

During the month of October, we were able to bring both children and adults together in two evening events. Our Movie Night gave families an opportunity to bring out the blankets and enjoy some refreshments, provided by our Student Council, while watching Hocus Pocus 2! Following that, we also held our annual Trunk or Treat Event. It was great to see all the funny, scary, and group costumes while our kids left with buckets full of candy, thanks to the parents and families of our community. Thank you to everyone who supported both events!

RESPECTING SCHOOL SPIRIT!

To celebrate The Week of Respect, students and staff participated in daily Spirit Days, highlighting the diversity of our school community and how we respect everyone. Check out the pictures of everyone "Mixing it Up'', "Teaming Up for Friendship", and showing "Everyone Counts!"

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

For the month of October, we had our first Homeroom Competition! Students and staff were tasked with decorating their class pumpkin, and writing a Haiku related to the spooky season! Check out all the entries, and a special shoutout to our winning homerooms in 5th Grade (D12 - Mrs. Furey) and 6th Grade (A7 - Ms. Newman)!

#GETSTURDY CHALLENGE

So you think you can dance?! For our first dance challenge of the year, students AND staff participated in a viral dance called, #GetSturdy. Congratulations to our winner who was picked by students, 6th Grader, JJ! Also, check out some of our staff getting involved!

WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE CLASSROOM?!

Do your children ever tell you about all the great stuff going on in their classrooms? If not, check out some pictures of the great lessons and activities that have been planned by staff during the first marking period. We look forward to seeing all that will take place during the second marking period!

SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH!

Each month, 3 students, per grade level will be recognized as our Students of the Month! We are extremely proud of our winners for the first two months as they have displayed our #SteinhauerProud core values and been a shining example for their peers!
