This Week

Parents,

Please read the information in our newsletter below and let me know if you have any questions.

Rising 6th graders - See important scheduling and curriculum guide. Course request form is due back to me by the 18th.

-Ms. Kate Martin

Thank You!

I wanted to say thank you to all of the parent volunteers that came in and helped during our School of Choice testing process! I know it wouldn't have worked without your commitment, flexibility and help!

We had such a great application process! We are still finalizing numbers for next year, but we are confident it will be around 120 students! It's amazing to think that this program was just at 31 students last year!

mSTEP Testing

We are also entering that time of year when we begin thinking about the mSTEP assessments. Here is a Parent's Guide to mSTEP testing you may find useful.

Positivity Project - P2

This week's character strength is: Being present and giving others my attention

Just like plants need sunlight to grow, our relationships need attention. The research is crystal clear, relationships are the cornerstone of health, happiness, and resilience. And, if we don’t give our attention to the people we’re building relationships with – whether family members, close friends, or even distant colleagues – we can’t build those relationships.

On a group level, it’s vitally important that we pick our heads up from our cell phones and truly listen to other people when they’re talking. A positive culture is built with positive relationships – and we can’t build positive relationships without attention. So, the answer is clear: we need to pay attention to people in our lives. That’s going to be good for individuals, small groups, and large societies.

Writing: We continued a unit on expository/informational writing. Here is what the students will be doing: Directions Sheet. The students are all writing their drafts, and we are revising and editing as we write.
