Principal Message Week of September 20th
We had a great week, Cougars. I hope all of you all are doing well. Below is the Cougar Connect for the week of 9/20.
COVID-19
Everyone should have received communication regarding a COVID-19 positive case last Friday. Each time that occurs, our school community will be informed in the following ways:
Letter sent via email to families of the grade level(s) affected (New)
Letter sent via email to families (campus-wide)
Letter sent via email to close contacts
Letter sent via email to Kennedy staff
Please remember to keep your student home if they are feeling sick and communicate with the school any relevant health information.
Clubs / Academic Supports
Kennedy clubs and Academic supports are kicking off this week. We had over 150 students sign-up last week!!
Students will be reminded each day during morning announcements what clubs are being offered on that day.

Outdoor Education
6th grade families, you should have received the Outdoor Education application last Thursday. If you are interested please complete this form
Once we have the number of interested families finalized, we will schedule a follow-up meeting.
Picture Day:
We had picture day last week, if you missed it or decide that you want to retake your picture make-ups will be on 10/26.
Lastly, I am still out on maternity leave as my daughter was born last Tuesday!! I will be answering email but for onsite immediate assistance or questions please refer to our awesome admin lead, Mr. Camarena and his admin support Mr. Grasty and Mr. Griffin.

Back to School Night (Virtual)
Back to School Night will be this via Zoom this Thursday from 5:45pm-7:15 pm.
Passcode: 649747
Families will meet with admin briefly at 5:45 for a short presentation with instructions on accessing each of your students' classes. This information will also be shared with each students so families that do no have a device can visit classes using student chromebooks.
How will it look?
Each teacher has made a short video discussing their class and they will be available from 6:00 pm-7:15 pm for questions.
*Families will receive these videos on Wednesday

5:45-6:00 Meet with Admin
6:00-6:10 1st period
6:11-6:21 2nd period
6:22-6:32 3rd period
6:33-6:43 4th period
6:44-6:54 5th period
6:55-7:05 6th period
7:06-7:15 7th period
Reminder:
Remember that these are not parent-teacher conferences. If you need a conference with a teacher, please schedule one.
IReady Assessment
Once again this assessment will be given to all students 3 times (each trimester) to determine what grade level content they have learned, and what they still need to learn. It is a very valuable tool for teachers and families as it allows for student progress to be tracked throughout the year. I copy of individual student reports will be shared with families each trimester.
IReady Testing Schedule is below: (Block Days)
Sept 22-23 Math Assessment in their math classes and Friday 24th if necessary
Make-up will occur the week of Sept 27th
Site Council / ELAC Elections (Close on Friday the 9/24)
Thank you to the parents that volunteered to be part of Site council / ELAC. We need five official parents/guardians to be a part of our Site Council including at least one parent who has an English Language Learner who can represent ELAC. Others not elected are welcome to join us at our meetings, but will not get to be a part of official votes.
We have 3 sports available:
