Stilwell Monday Message

Weekly Student and Family Communication

Monday - 11/2/2020

Good Morning Stilwell students and families,

Last Thursday students attended Career Day. We want to thank the Stilwell alum, parents, and community partners that took time out of their day to share their careers with our students. We would also like to thank the hard work of Mr. Brady Johnson, Stilwell school counselor, and the rest of our Career Day Planning team Erica Weeklund and Sarah Hybels for organizing this virtual event.

Just a reminder that students learning online can reserve library items to be held for pick-up or delivered! Students can access the library catalog using this link and place holds on books or audiobooks using these directions. When held items are ready, students will receive an email with directions to set up a pick-up or delivery time. Let Mrs. Frey know if you have questions or need help with this process.

Just a reminder we will not have school on Friday, November 13th. This day was recently changed to support staff with additional learning, planning, and work time.

In Challenging Times, A Unifying WDMCS Message

The Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA)

Hey Stillwell Students,

The Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) will be having its 2nd meeting this week. We will be meeting virtually on November 5th and November 19th from 3:15-4:00 pm. Please join us and help decide what our focus will be this year as well as make some new friends! You can join by using this Google Meet Link. Please reach out to Ms. Belden with any questions you may have.

Face Coverings

We want to remind our students about the importance of face coverings. Face coverings are required each day and must be worn properly. Properly worn face coverings cover both the mouth and the nose. The health and safety of all students and staff is our number one priority. Thank you for your and your student's support of these safety measures.

Supporting Your Child's Online Learning

Wednesday, Nov. 4, 6:30-8 p.m.

Virtual class; join us online!

One of the toughest parts of virtual learning is that it requires a whole new set of skills! As a parent, how can you best support your child as they navigate a new learning environment? In this class, we’ll investigate ways to set your student up for success! Topics will include setting and keeping a schedule, creating a conducive work environment, and how to help motivate your student. We'll also discuss how to figure out what isn't going well and how to improve it. Bring your questions, and prepare to leave with strategies and resources for a successful school year online!

Course taught by Abby Cunningham, WDMCS online learning coordinator. The class will be held through Google Meet and you just need wifi and a tablet, computer, or even a phone. A link will be emailed just prior to the start of class. Sign up now!

Parking Lot Protocol

We understand our parking lot drop-off and pick-up process can be time-consuming. However, we need all families to follow the procedures to ensure our students are safe. Please remember these guidelines:

  • Do not drop off your student or stop for any reason along Vine Street.
  • Do not pull into the bus lanes along Vine Street.
  • Do not allow your student to exit the vehicle until you have pulled up to the curb in the parking lot.
  • Please drive slowly through the parking lot and on Vine St.

After The Bell

After the bell is an additional opportunity at the end of the day to get support with learning from a certified teacher. It will start on Tuesday, September 8th in the Stilwell cafeteria. Students will receive an additional snack using social distancing and are welcome to stay until 4:00 pm. After the bell will run each week Monday-Thursday. For more information please contact Mr. Peter Bissinger at
