Sarahi Fernandez Leon, a Southwest High School Senior, was awarded the title of Salutatorian of the Class of 2022 for her hard work and perseverance in the classroom. Sarahi has been putting through every effort in order to become a high-ranking class student ever since her freshman year. The best part about becoming the Salutatorian of her class, she said, is that all her dedication finally pays off after four years of work and that hopefully, it can set an example for future students who are looking to achieve similar things. Sarahi participated in varsity soccer, and varsity cross country. Sarahi is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and a senior class officer. She will be attending St. Mary's University where she will play soccer. "I received scholarships from all the colleges I applied to," said Sarahi. " She received the Valero Alamo Bowl Student-Athlete Scholarship, the SAEP Scholarship, and the Southwest ISD Student Scholarship.

However, none of this is possible without the teachers, friends, and family that helped her along her journey to excellence, even when such a goal seemed unreachable. The people Sarahi met throughout her high school career challenged her to be a skillful student, accomplish the goals that Sarahi set for herself, and become recognized in her school as a great example of an exceptional student!
