LRMS: Week at a Glance
October 26 - 30, 2015
Sayings from Skinner
Another week is FLYING by . . and like bats on the wing, I know we all feel a little frenetic in this week of spooky, rainy weather -- a full moon brewing -- lots of sickness in the air -- and Halloween tricks and treats looming!!! In all of it, I love the good SPIRIT I see in the hall as we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week as well as the great SPIRIT I see in classrooms as you all continue to work to engage students at high levels of learning -- and really prodding them to REACH their potential and become more READY for what lies ahead. Please take care of yourselves and get plenty of rest. Wash your hands a lot -- so that you each can stay as well as possible. If you do become ill, please stay home and don't infect others. I would ask that everyone update their sub. notebooks and emergency plans -- just as we never know what might happen day to day! Thanks to you all -- and I wish you a happy week and a fabulous weekend -- And BEST OF ALL -- ENJOY THE EXTRA HOUR OF SLEEP on Saturday evening, as we "fall back" 1 hour!!!! : - )
New You Can Use
1) Kudos, Congratulations, and Other Matters of Good News:
- Let's welcome our newest staff members --- Sebrina Fleming (moving from Stellar Sub to Maya Kirk's 7th grade LA position); Morgan Montgomery (our new Stellar Sub); and John Haga (returning to us as a parapro). Please help all of these folks feel welcome (or re-welcomed) to the Radloff Family!
- Who Read It? -- Congrats to these 5 "first readers": Mary Jerzak, Lauren Bruner, Pam Buckland, Karen Slough, Yolla Lutrell -- please see Wendy for your gift certificate!
- KUDOS to Andrea Murray and her amazing Cafeteria Staff -- once more they scored a 100% during the Health Inspection --- WAY to GO!!!
- Anonymous kudos to Mr. Howe for his wonderful administration and organization of the DA interim testing. With Pam Buckland's, Katie Cott's, and Gayla LeMay's help, the plan for dispersing the special accommodation groups for SPED and ELL went smoothly.
2) Interpreter Needed?
- Remember our clerical staff cannot stay past their working ours, so if they are assisting with translating, please make sure it fits within their school day.
- If you are wanting/needing Lisa to make a contact, please plan to sit with her as she calls -- it is imperative that it is a conversation with you the teacher --- not just a passing along of info -- her job is to facilitate relationship-building, not just information sharing.
- If it is a longer meeting (i.e., a parent conference, IEP, etc.), you may request a district-level interpreter -- but this must be scheduled -- see Lisa, your AP, or one of the counselors to assist with this level of need.
3) ELT
Remember that the ELT program should still be in FULL SWING. Data must be collected and entered into the database. More reporting to the district will be required as of the end of December --- don't wait to get ALL of your data put into the file on the shared drive!
4) Open Enrollment and United Way Campaign is Underway!!
Don't forget about your Open Enrollment elections --- watch for information and emails from Wendy Tait and don't miss the deadlines.
United Way Campaign Details
Just because everyone at Radloff is awesome you will be able to wear your jeans on Monday November 2 as a gift from PBIS:) But how can you get more JEAN days? Here are some ways:
1. Donate 10 dollars to United Way and you will be able to wear your jeans for three days next week: October 26-28.
2. Donate 25 dollars to United Way and you will be able to wear your jeans for the entire first week of November: Nov 2-6
I will be putting a jeans pass for those teachers who donate the money in their boxes and you will tape it to your door. If you are still reading -- and I hope you are -- send Sarah an email that says 'Read the United Way Campaign Info.' in the subject heading -- first 5 responses that follow the instructions will win a prize!
So how do you donate money to United Way?
1. Go to your About me category
2. Click on the United Way donations Tab
3. Press Give today
4. Type in the amount you want to donate
5. You can either donate that amount out of every(per) check or just one time.
6. Make sure the Designation says United Way Impact Fund
7. Hit Submit:)
5) Duty Posts -- Arriving and Leaving Campus
Certified Staff -- please remember that your daily hours are 8:30 until 4:30 (except on mornings when there are meetings scheduled earlier within your area of responsibility, faculty meetings, and Wednesdays, which begin at 8;15 for school-wide morning tutoring) --- should you need to leave earlier or leave campus throughout the day, please make sure you notify your immediate supervisor and sign in/out in the front office. If you have morning or afternoon duty, it is your responsibility to be at that post on time and until the duty is complete. If you are unable to be at your duty post, please make sure a supervisor knows, so that the spot can be covered. Covering duty is a responsibility of professionalism.
Classified employees are to work the hours as assigned by their immediate administrator, but are generally from 8:30 - 4:30 daily. Classified employees are to work only 40 hours in a work week.
6) Preparation for Grade Level Meetings on Friday, October 30
Remember to bring your blue folder from our 10/12 faculty meeting and all of the handouts from the GL meeting on 10/23. Also, make sure you've talked through the DA data with your team and have answered/thought about the following three questions:
1. Describe one "glow" and one "grow" in each of the 4 content areas, based on the DA data. (What is a positive trend/trait you see? What is an area that remains a challenge?)
2. In thinking of one of the "grows," brainstorm what might be the contributing factors/influences/roadblocks that are leading to that growth area? (In other words, what might be the potential reasons/causes/correlations that might be attributing to the weakness/challenge area.)
3. Thinking about what we currently have/offer at our school, what resources/needs are still there that would help us/you/teachers mitigate any of those roadblocks? (In other words, what "missed opportunities" are still there that could help each of us help the kids more in the selected or any of the growth areas.)
7) E-Splost is Still a Hot Topic -- Don't forget that Election Day is Tuesday, November 4 -- please encourage all folks you know to get out and vote!
8) Interventions, Interventions, Interventions -- Parent Contact, Parent Contact, Parent Contact
Does anything else need to be said?
(Ok . .one more thing -- don't forget the expectations about documenting all parent contact and all tutoring opportunities and which kids are taking advantage of it and when --- the documentation is key!)
