Parasitic Protozoa

Giardiasis

This is usually an infection that resolves itself although if it continues to progress albendazole and tinidazole can be used as medications.

Causes loss of appetite, diarrhea, loose watery stool, stomach cramps, projectile vomiting, bloating gas, burping, and lasts for up to one to two weeks.

This is more dangerous for people hiking backpacking in the wilderness areas. You can contract this disease however through animals such as beavers, dogs, cats, horses, humans, cattle, and birds.
