Open House
Come one, come all. You are all invited to our upcoming HRMS Open house this Thursday, September 21st at 6:00 p.m. This is an important time to connect with your student and get familiar with their learning environment. We will all meet in the auditorium for a short presentation to start and then you will set free to tour the building as well as connect with additional resource to support your student and family.
Research supports that if families do these three things, students are more successful at school and here is how you can help with this.
Monitor: Student planners. Students will record learning objectives and assignments in their planners.
Encourage: Students to use the organizational tools provided.
Support: Please make sure your student comes prepared everyday with iPad, binder and planners.
Best Regards,
Rolland

COUNSELOR CONNER
Welcome back to school from your child's school counselors!
We hope you are having a great transition back to school routines. We are focusing on respect and empathy this month for Character Strong during advisory. Here are a few tips for reinforcing what your student is learning at school.
1. Clearly Teach What Is Expected
We cannot ask our kids to demonstrate what we have not clearly taught them.
2. Modeling, modeling, and more modeling.
As an adult in your child's world, your students are looking to you for what it looks like to be a respectful person.
3. Look for the Good
We all want to be recognized and encouraged for the positive things we do. You can encourage and reinforce respect by catching your child doing the little things.
4. Calm, Clear, and Consistent Redirection
Many students do things that appear disrespectful in an attempt to gain peer or adult attention. Choosing not to give it more attention than it deserves is an important strategy to discourage the behavior. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your child.
