Cordelia Hills Update

1/14/2019

Message from the Principal

I felt like I had jet lag the first few days of last week coming off the break. That feeling is far gone and we are definitely back in the swing of things as a school. We have many important markers coming up in the next two weeks. Progress reports will come out early February. Winter MAP testing is coming early February. Both will give us a good overview of how teaching and learning has been going this year. I look forward to it and to setting some goals for the second half of the year.

Please check out the information on multicultural night below. Lastly, please remember to follow the law and common sense when driving around a school. I saw a parent do a U-Turn at a high rate of speed during morning drop off last week. I know it is one example but it reminded me stress traffic safety.

District Calendar: The 2019-2020 calendar is out. Check it out here. Please do your best to plan vacations, appointments, times away from school around the school calendar. We need every student here everyday that they are healthy.

Multicultural Night

The CHE School Climate committee is proud and excited to announce the Cordelia Hills Multicultural Night. The event will be held on April 7 in the MPR. All families and students are welcome to attend and be involved. I am including a ton of links here:

Our Event website: https://sites.google.com/fsusd.org/multicultural-night/home

Specific registration/interest link: https://sites.google.com/fsusd.org/multicultural-night/registration

A Save the Date Flyer is here

We look forward to the event and evening and hope you can participate! Please note that a family can represent culture in many ways. It doesn't have to be based in a country/region and we are open to working with families to best represent the cultural traditions of as many families as possible.

Mr. Matthew Mind-Up

We have added a staff member for the remainder of the year. Mr. Matthew Santos is a behavior technician for FSUSD and will be on-site Tuesday-Thursday to do lessons in class on the science of the brain and on regulating emotions/self control. Mr. Matthew received his degree and training from UC Santa Barbara and we are excited to have his expertise on campus.
