Week 8 Reminders
and Celebrations - Term 4 2021
God of Hope,
who brought love into this world,
be the love that dwells between us.
God of Hope,
who brought peace into this world,
be the peace that dwells between us.
God of Hope,
who brought joy into this world,
be the joy that dwells between us.
God of Hope,
the rock upon which we stand,
be the centre, the focus of our lives
in this Advent waiting time, and always.
From the Principal
Hoping you are all doing well.
A few important messages this week - especially in regards to the whole school Christmas Concert, so please read the notes below carefully.
Congratulations to our Year Six Boys Basketball team, who lost by just 1 point in the semi final of the State Championship on Wednesday - and although it was disappointing for the boys, all of them can hold their heads high after such a fabulous effort! Many thanks to Mr Munro for taking on the big job of coaching the team on the day - and to parents for their support. Well done to all involved!
First Sunday of Advent
This Sunday marks the beginning of the Advent season.
Advent means 'coming' in Latin and this special time gives us an opportunity to prepare our hearts and homes for the coming of the Christ child, amidst the hustle, bustle, chaos and busyness of life.
Jesus was born, grew up, and then turned the values of the secular world on its head.
Love your enemies.
Forgive 70 times 7.
Serve the poor, the marginalised, the outcast, the powerless.
If you see a speck in the eye of another - first look at the log in your own.
And so much more...
May we each pause long enough in this Advent time to reflect on our own choices and motivations, and to try hard to walk in the big footsteps of Jesus.
Thanksgiving Mass and Morning Tea
You are invited to join us at our Whole School Thanksgiving Mass this Wednesday, 1st December. Following Mass, the morning tea is a low key, informal opportunity to simply share a cup of tea in the small hall and catch up with friends prior to the holidays. Please bring a very small plate to share if possible.
Below is a FAQ note detailing all you need to know about our whole school Christmas Concert next Thursday the 2nd December. Please note that we are asking parents to collect children early - by 1.30pm on this day to give children an opportunity to eat and rest before a big night.
Our Graduation celebration will be held on Monday of Week 9, 6th December. We look forward to praying with our students and to remembering and celebrating their wonderful St Emilie's journey. Many thanks to those choir members who are joining us and generously sharing their gifts on the night.
Student reports via SEQTA will be ready for viewing next week - more details are below. Please remember that the formal report is just one small part of a much bigger picture and that parents play a very key role in communicating respectfully and encouragingly to your child.
Staff for 2021
The Staff List for 2021 will be published in next week's Week 8 Weekly Reminders. Class Lists will then go home in Week 10.
Let's make the end of Term 4 a great one!
Despite the busyness, we continue to work hard on keeping things as calm, organised and relaxed as possible here at school, so that staff, students and families can end the year on a happy and positive note!
Eight lucky Year Fives Visited Parliament House!
Congratulations from Mr Munro
Congratulations to the Year 6 Boys St Emilie's Interschool Basketball team who made the semi finals of the All Stars Basketball School Slam Series at Bendat Basketball Centre on Wednesday. The boys competed hard all day and won 4 games against Alkimos PS, Ashdale PS, Quinns Beach PS and South Halls Head PS. They were unlucky to lose by 1 point in the semi final to All Saints College. Thanks to all the families that came and supported the team. A big thank you to Patrick, who helped with the coaching on the day. The 8 boys who
represented the school should be extremely proud of all they achieved in the tournament.
GREETINGS FROM COLUMBIA
Despite being isolated for a long time they are doing as well as can be expected.
We are all hoping that the family will return to Australia mid next year.
Please keep them all in your prayers.
