S1 FINAL EXAMS & ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE DAYS
BHS recognizes the flexibility and grit of students throughout the first semester. As such, semester final exams for some classes will be suspended. Some advanced placement and dual credit courses may have final exams on December 21st and 22nd as required by the curriculum. Students in all other classes may provide additional evidence of understanding, based on their performance. Regular school day, periods 1 through 8 will be run each day, attendance policies apply the week of finals.
Teachers will post in Infinite Campus, by the end of the day, on December 17th, BHS S1 FINAL GRADE STATUS.
Below are the status groups and their definitions:
GRADE STATUS - COMPLETED
Students have completed all elements of the course and provided evidence at a consistent level of performance. Additional evidence would not change the grade.
Students may choose to participate in possible enrichment activities.
GRADE STATUS - OPTIONAL
Students have completed all elements of the course and provided evidence at an inconsistent level of performance. Additional evidence could improve a C+ to a B- or a B+ to an A-.
Students have the opportunity to participate.
Although additional evidence may result in a higher grade, the student's grade cannot be impacted negatively.
Providing additional evidence does not guarantee a higher grade.
GRADE STATUS - INCOMPLETE
Students are missing one or two major assessments/assignments OR have performed significantly below their typical level of achievement on a specific grading task. Additional evidence could improve their Final Grade.
Participation, in order to provide additional evidence, is required of students.
Although additional evidence may result in a higher grade, the student's grade cannot be impacted negatively.
Providing additional evidence does not guarantee a higher grade.
Some courses may require final exams (such as courses with post-secondary requirements).
Students are required to participate in these exams as they may count up to 20% of their overall grade.

BHS MASK REQUIREMENTS
Some masks work better to help to stop the spread of COVID-19. Recommended masks include:
- Non-medical disposable masks.
- Masks that fit properly (snugly around the nose and chin with no large gaps around the sides of the face).
- Masks made with breathable fabric, such as cotton.
- Masks made with tightly woven fabric (i.e., fabrics that do not let light pass through when held up to a light source).
- Masks with two or three layers.
- Masks with inner filter pockets.
Masks with vents, masks made of mesh, and gaiters are not permissible.
Here is our progressive discipline chart that addresses a student’s refusal to wear a mask.
BHS COVID-19 Dashboard
The BHS COVID-19 dashboard shows the weekly number of positive cases and quarantine cases among students and staff at BHS.
Please note:
- A positive case is counted on the day it is reported. Every day after, it is placed in the quarantine category.
- Quarantine cases are total students and staff not attending school due to testing positive or exposure to a positive case.
- Positive cases for students are only counted for students who have been in the building for any reason (academic, athletics, clubs, etc.).
For more information regarding COVID-19 at BHS, please see our BHS letter. (en español)

Dear BHS Parents/Guardians~
In order to plan for the second half of the 2021-22 school year, Barrington 220 is seeking student vaccination information. Providing proof of vaccination is voluntary. However, students who have not provided proof will be considered unvaccinated for contact tracing purposes. Additionally, understanding the percentage of students who have received the vaccination is a critical data point as we work to maintain a healthy school environment. At this time, children age 5 and over are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
If your child is fully vaccinated (two doses), please send a copy (either a photo or PDF format) of your child’s vaccination card to districtnurseoffice@barrington220.org. Please include your child’s first and last name, as well as the school your child attends.
If your child has only received one dose, please send a copy of your child’s vaccination card once the second dose has been administered. If you indicated your child’s vaccination status through Infinite Campus earlier this fall, we are asking that you still submit a photo of your child’s vaccination card to the email listed above.
Please note, now that your child is fully vaccinated, your child will no longer be eligible to participate in weekly Shield Testing at school.
If you have any questions, please contact our District Nursing Coordinator, Bridget Heroff at bherroff@barrington220.org
