Weekly Update
Winnona Park Elementary School
Dear Winnona Park families,
Next week we will be closed for Spring break. I hope we can all use this time to rest and reset, to prepare our minds for the remainder of the school year. Please keep in mind that teachers do not check their email over the break. Thank you for allowing them time to rest and reset as well.
April 12th will be our final transition of this school year. We will be welcoming approximately 65 students back into the building for face to face learning, while 6 of our classes remain fully virtual. We look forward to ending the year strong with a focus on continuing and building relationships, embracing change and growth mindset, and fostering joy and a love for learning. If you have any questions regarding the transition, please email Principal Scott at rscott@csdecatur.net.
Sincerely,
Principal Scott

From the Counselor
We all share a common goal for our children to be safe and protected from harm. Related to that goal, school counselors are required by OCGA 20-2-143 to present annual personal safety lessons designed to prevent sexual abuse, raise assault awareness and provide prevention education. The Think First & Stay Safe™ program is a research-based program that teaches specific personal safety education through interactive classroom lessons, role-playing and corresponding activities. Think First & Stay Safe™ enables students to take an active and necessary role in protecting themselves from abuse, assault and exploitation. CSD school counselors reviewed the program and selected it for our students. You can read more about this program here.
