Background
Georgia O'Keeffe was an American artist. She was born near Sun Prairie Wisconsin. She first came to the New York art community in 1926. She made huge paintings of zoomed in blossoms. She painted them up close, as if you were seeing the image through a magnifying lens. She also painted many pictures of New York buildings which were in the same decade. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago fro 1905 to 1906. She went to the Art Students League in New York City in 1907. There she studied under William Merritt Chase.
Favorite Painting
My favorite painting of Georgia O'Keeffe's is "Music, Pink and Bule No. 2." I like this picture best because it caught my eye. It looks like it is painted with water colors. I like how you have to figure out what it is, instead of just knowing right away. The colors are very pretty. The painting is very abstract.
Contributions and Art Movements
Georgia O'Keeffe's style is often described as very unique and personal. She is associated with the American Modernist Movement. She pretty much lead this movement. She used mainly expressionism and abstraction in her paintings. She challenged the boundaries of the modern American styles of paintings. She played a huge role in bringing the American art style to Europe.
