Poverty In The United States
During the 1950s and 1960s nearly 1 out of 4 Americans were living below the poverty line or very close to it. Those of which that were close to the poverty line had a good chance of dropping below it.

Even though the poverty rate was high, there were many white collar jobs and less white collar jobs. Therefore some of the people that didn't have the required job skills could not good a very good job.

T.V advertising in the United States went from 170 million in 1950 to 2 billion in 1960 10 years later. The reason for this is because many more people started to buy and watch T.V.
