Pride and Prejudice
Movie vs. Book
Plot Changes
Pemberly
The events that happen while Lizzie is at Pemberly are greatly lessened in the film. The presence and visit of Mr. Bingley, as well as the visit Lizzie and Mrs. Gardiner make to Pemberly are left out. Georgiana is also a much smaller character in the film. While this really didn't effect the story, it does make the relationship between Lizzie and Darcy at this point in the story seem less strong than it was in the book as the didn't really get see each other in the movie. It's also disappointing to someone who has read the book to have all those parts cut out.

Perspectives
In the movie everything is seen from Lizzie's perspective. The viewer is never able to see inside any of the other character's heads. The novel however does allow the occasional glimpse into Mr. Darcy's mind especially at the beginning when his feelings for Lizzie are growing. With this being left out of the movie the viewers who don't know the story yet really won't know where the story's going until Darcy proposes in the middle of the movie.
"I have been meditating on the on the very great pleasure which a pair of fine eyes in the face of a pretty woman can bestow" (Austen 19). (Mr. Darcy speaking of Elizabeth)
Dinner with the Phillips
In the novel the girls meet Wickham in town just like in the book. However in the book Lizzie really gets to know him at dinner at her aunts house in Meryton. This is where Wickham tells his story about him and Mr. Darcy. This difference doesn't really affect the story though, so I didn't mind it.
"The girls had the pleasure of hearing, as they entered the drawing room, that Mr. Wickham had accepted their uncle's invitation, and was then in the house"(Austen 55).
Characters
Lady Catherine
Lady Catherine is a much less important Character in the film than in the book. The film left out many of the visits Lizzie and the Collins made to Lady Catherine and thus the relationship between them all seems much smaller. This makes it seem very random when Lady Catherine comes to Lizzie's house as the audience doesn't know how well they know each other at that point.

Caroline Bingley
Caroline Bingley's character was present much more in the book than the movie. She wasn't in the movie very much and her affection for Darcy wasn't nearly as clear. In the novel however her affection was clear and that really just added to Lizzie's dislike for Darcy. Caroline also added to Jane's character development in the book as there were the times when she visited Jane in London and behaved very rudely. This made Jane finally realize that not everyone is a perfect kind person. I would've liked to have seen Caroline more in the film.

The Gardiners
In the film the Gardiners are only a small part of the story and really inconsequential characters. In the book however Mrs. Gardiner is a very important companion to Lizzie and is there to support her and give her advice, such as staying away from Wickham.
"Mrs. Gardiner...was an amiable, intelligent, elegant woman, and a great favorite with all her Longbourn nieces" (Austen 104).
