Christmastime is here!

Welcome the joy, the laughter, the excitement of the holidays! We kicked off the season with our White Elephant Sale and are eagerly preparing for holiday concerts, festive activities & a whole lot of FUN!

Daily Attendance

EJSMS submits attendance twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Morning attendance is submitted by classroom teachers at 8:45am and the auto-call goes out at 8:55am. If your students are arriving to school after 8:45am (after we do our announcements & sing O Canada), please have them check in at the office to adjust the attendance before the call goes out. Our afternoon attendance is submitted at 12:30pm with an auto-call going out at 12:35pm.


If you need to leave an absent message for your child, please call the school and leave a message on the attendance line: 403-782-3096 and press 8.

Cold & Inclement Weather Policies

At EJSMS, we keep students inside for recess when the air temperature or wind-chill exceeds -25 degrees. On these days, students are ushered into the building at 8:20am when staff members begin their day. Supervisors are stationed at the back bus lane as well to direct the bus students into the building when they arrive off the bus. There are staff members awaiting the students at all doors to welcome students in early on these cold mornings. If the temperature improves during the day, often times the lunch and/or afternoon recess is an outside one! Please ensure to dress your children in appropriate winter gear for the duration of the season.

School Council Update

White Elephant Sale Success!

Our White Elephant Sale was a roaring success! Thank you to all the families & community members who donated items for our sale, as well as the volunteers who came to help the sale operate smoothly! Our students had an absolute blast shopping for their families to pick out the perfect gift! What an incredible joy it is to see the magic of the season through their eyes.


The monetary donations tallied up to just over $2800.00 for our sale - WOW! We are humbled by the generosity of the season. Thank you everyone!

School Council Meeting

Our next meeting will be January 24 @ 7:15pm. This will be held in-person at the school in the Learning Commons, as well as online via Google Meet. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Is there an update on the COVID Disruption Grant?

Is there an update on the COVID Disruption Grant?

We are thrilled to say we have some money from the government to provide extra intervention for literacy and numeracy for students who qualify. The amount of money is substantially lower than last year, but we are grateful for what we can get.


Essentially, we are looking at having interventions for qualifying students for four months - January through April. These are key learning and growth months, so we are pleased to have this opportunity. The interventions will be provided by both EAs and teachers, and in both English and French Immersion.


If your child is one of the students who will be provided with this particular intervention time, you will be informed by the classroom teacher.
