Open House
We had a wonderful Open House event this month and I was pleased to see all of the families visiting classrooms! I know that meeting your student's teachers is a very important first step in a positive relationship needed for our students to be successful.
Please know that we are here to assist in any way we can. Your student's teachers can be best reached by way of email which can be done easily through our new webpage.
Please also ensure you have current phone numbers and email addresses on file with us so you can receive our other methods of communication.
If your student plays a sport or is in a club, be sure to communicate directly with the coach or sponsor regarding practices, meetings, and activities/games. Sports information can also be found on our webpage: https://www.centralmiddlesports.com/
Thank you for being our partner in your student's education.
Mentoring @ CMS
Looking for a creative way to tell your 8th grade son or daughter “I love you” and “I am proud of you”?
Purchase a dedication ad in the yearbook! A recognition ad is always a great idea. In the future, seeing your message will bring a smile as your child remembers your love and support during those important years. We can even keep your ad a secret until the yearbook is distributed!
Does your student want to remember a special group of friends? Students can also take out a dedication ad to remember them!
The deadline for payment and all ad materials is Tuesday, January 1st. Ads will be first come first served, get your spot soon!
Make checks payable to CMS Yearbook or purchase online through our schools website banner. All materials can be turned in to homeroom teachers or dropped off in the office. You can also email photos and/or info to Tiffany Rife-Oman at tiffany.rifeoman@capital.k12.de.us.
Million Father March Breakfast & Student Assembly
CMS hosted an assembly for students with a number of special guests all speaking to the message of being your best self! The gentleman on our Boys to Men Panel answered questions developed by our very own Student Leadership Counsel. The message from our panelists, was one of making positive choices and learning from those choices. They encouraged our students to do their best in school and mentioned that even through mistakes in our lives, we can always choose to do better. They encouraged our students to follow their dreams, set personal goals, and work hard to achieve them. We had poet and rapper Amillion share his story of growing up in Delaware and working hard so that now, he was living his own dream. He shared his talents with us and pulled students out of the audience to share their own gifts and talents. We also hosted over 100 dads, granddads, uncles, mentors, brothers, etc. who were able to take some time to eat breakfast with their CMS student. The students loved this event and we are currently in the panning stages for another event that will celebrate the male role models in our lives.
