Information about Field Trips
On October 20th, we will travel to the Pumpkin Patch at Dreamfield Farms. We will arrive there at 9am and will leave at 1pm. This is a great trip that will give our learners an opportunity to see a snapshot in to the life of rural living and farming and just how important it is to our community. Parents are welcome to join us for the event. However, you are responsible for transporting yourselves and you will be able to pay $5 at the gate for admission. You will have the option to purchase lunch at the concession stand that is available. The cost for our learners is $18.00. This fee includes admission, lunch, and a souvenir pumpkin.
You may use the following link https://pikeroadal.csiepay.com/ to pay for the trips online or you may send a check made payable to Pike Road Schools for the cost of the trips. Please, no cash is accepted. I would like for all payments to be paid by September 28th please.

The Week Ahead
Center Time: Our learners will continue to help develop and set up our centers. This last week, we worked hard on creating centers in our learning space. The learners collaborated and named the following centers : Writing Workshop, Block City, Exploration Lab & Water Table, Tinker Toys, and the Library Express. We will develop our Home Living Center this week, and work on opening our Math center. They have also expressed interest in opening a Grocery Store. So we will probably explore that idea further during the week, we learn more about our Town Community.
Shared Reading, Shared Journal, and Poetry Journal: This week we will continue to work on identifying nouns, distinguishing between long and short vowel sounds, vowel sound letter patterns, and identifying syllables in words. We will also begin on the comprehension skill of making predictions from the texts.
Math: This week we will use the data collected from our Math at Home activity to make graphs, add, subtract, create word problems, and work on our algebraic thinking.
