Information from Nurse Carmichael

Important Message from our Nurse - 11-16-2021

Dear Brown Community,

There will be a COVID vaccine clinic at Brown on December 2 from 3:30-5:00pm in the cafeteria. Everyone 5 years old and older is eligible.

As most of you know, we have had many cases of COVID here at Brown Middle School including students and teachers. We all need to be very vigilant. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT TO SCHOOL WITH ANY SYMPTOMS OF ILLNESS. Many people do not get a fever with COVID. Sore throat, head ache and congestion are very common. In fact, mild cases can look like the common cold or allergies. Nausea, vomiting, fatigue, muscle aches or cough are also common. Fever may or may not be present. Some people may lose their sense of smell. (This is not common with the delta variant). If your child has symptoms that do not go away within 24 hours, I would advise taking him/her for a COVID test.

The best way to prevent the spread of COVID at school (and in the community) is to get vaccinated against COVID, wear a mask that covers the mouth AND nose when indoors with people you do not live with, and get tested if you have symptoms. Stay home when you have symptoms of illness except to go to the doctor or for testing. Go to epstrong.org for information and testing sites. Many pharmacies also provide vaccines and testing.

I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have about COVID and the COVID vaccine. You can also speak with your doctor or pharmacist.

Let’s all do our part to keep our Brown community safe and our schools open! – Nurse Carmichael

– Enfermera Carmichael
