Practice ACT & Senior Workshop October 6
On October 6, students in grades 9-11 took a practice ACT using our online program Method Test Prep. The exam was 4 hours and provided students insight on what to expect in the future. Seniors participated in a Senior Workshop. Seniors worked on college applications, scholarship essays, resumes, and learned how to use Parchment to send transcripts. They met for 45 minutes with Attorney David Deda about how to avoid mistakes after turning 18 years old.

Parent-Teacher Conferences October 11 & 12
The high school and Class ACT Charter School held Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 11 and 12. Conferences were student-led and could be attended in-person or virtually. Students led the conferences in the presence of their advisors. The expectation was to meet with all the parents and not just the parents of students who were struggling academically. Turnout was fairly good but we will continue to focus on ways to improve attendance.

ASVAB October 7
On Thursday, October 7, the high school hosted the ASVAB. The ASVAB is a career exploration assessment and gives students career ideas that match their skill set. It is also used as a military entrance exam. We allow sophomores to take it even though their scores are not accepted for the military yet. It provides the sophomores a chance to experience the exam and serves as good practice. It is a 3-hour exam.

Tracy Lake School Forest Signs
We installed new signs at Tracy Lake. Many
students, past and present, worked on designing,
cutting, painting, and assembling them. Senior Brian
Brunkow served as project lead. Class ACT
provided funds for materials as with grant funds
awarded to them. We plan to hang the old signs in
the pavilion as part of our district’s historical record.
Tracy Lake School Forest Improvements
Tracy Lake School Forest will see two improvements this fall. Class ACT Governance Board received donations of materials and labor for a concrete activity slab, and Chequamegon School District upgraded the turnaround near the pavilion to improve bus parking and safety. Last summer Class ACT’s partner U.S. Forest Service volunteered to fell the trees in the boulevard as part of sawyer training. This fall, another partner, Tom Onchuck of the DNR, volunteered bulldozer time to remove the stumps and level the ground. Onchuck also filled in soupy potholes where buses nearly got stuck last year and graded for better drainage. To finish the parking area, the District added new gravel. Besides improved safety and accessibility of the bus parking area, Paul Kemper, President of Class ACT Governance Board, secured the labor and materials to construct a 25-foot by 28-foot concrete activity slab. This new area allows classroom teachers and their students a second space with a solid surface to deliver lessons or collaborate with multiple classrooms and schools for events, activities, and projects. Concrete for the slab will be poured Saturday, October 16. Class ACT and the Chequamegon School District extend a huge thank you to all those who donated in any way to these projects.
