Tip of the week
Grades K-5 Activity
Grades K-5 Watch the following book. As you listen to the story, think about which zones the narrator experiences (Blue, Green, Yellow, Red): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIfLgHBwYx4
"Everyone" has feelings. Especially in a time of change. Remember that there is no "bad" feeling or "bad" zone. Mrs. Mittelstadt or Ms. Winter will be following up with you on ClassDojo to see how you are doing. We are very excited to connect with you using this tool!
Think about either of the following questions:
1. What feelings are you having right now?
2. Which zones have you been in lately? Blue? Green? Yellow? Red?
Try one:
Talk to a family member about your feelings.
Draw a picture about your feelings.
Schedule a family movie night so that you can specifically watch for feelings and emotions. What are the characters feeling? Why do you think they are feeling that way? What did they do about those feelings? Was it a good choice or bad choice? How might you have handled those feelings?
Grades 6-12 Activity
Routine and Organization: In times of change (especially unexpected change) routine and organization can be super helpful in managing stress. As you start your week, we encourage you to
a) Write down a positive morning routine
b) Create your own at-home work space
Feel free to send a message to your school counselor letting them know how this activity went. You can even add a picture of your at-home work space.
Family Character Dare
Family Bucket List
Sit together as a family and see if you can brainstorm a list of 25 things you want to do together this year. Get creative and collaborative! Make sure the items range from totally doable in a day to something that may seem silly or impossible. Work to check things off each month until you make your next one.
