Dear Worthington Park Families,
Happy Friday Park Sharks! Today our students and school was able to recognizing and celebrating Veteran's Day. Our team at Park and students celebrated those who previously have served or currently serve in one of the six branches of our United States Military. Thank you to all of those in our school community who were able to share pictures and stories of those Park Shark Community Heroes. Please take a second to view our slideshow linked below

School-Wide Safety Drill on 11/17th
Worthington Park will be participating in a school-wide safety drill on 11/17th at 1:30pm. Students and staff will practice the Lock-out and Lock-down safety drills - two drills intended to keep students in classrooms during a suspected emergency and prevent all outside entrance into the school.
We realize that safety drills have the potential to create anxiety for students. Our goal will be to provide clear information in a caring manner and to conduct drills in a way that does not cause fear or anxiety for students. Prior to the drill, teachers will work with students in an age appropriate way to understand the difference between the two types of drills and to review expectations during each drill.
In addition, this safety drill will allow our school to practice communication in the event of a true emergency. As a parent/guardian, you can expect to receive notification on the day of the safety drill via email and text message at the onset of the drill and after it has concluded. Since this is occurring across all of our buildings, families with children in multiple schools will receive drill messages from each school. We apologize in advance for sending multiple messages, but we want to make sure all of our systems are working.
If you would like to confirm or correct a phone number or email address so you can receive notifications, please update your information in the Emergency Data Review section of the parent portal. Instructions can be found here: Emergency Data Review Instructions. Please update any information in advance of the scheduled drill.
Worthington Resource Pantry Canned Food Drive
Worthington Park Elementary is partnering with the Worthington Resource Pantry to help provide support to over 1,000 families in the area this holiday season. We are collecting canned food items, granola bars, and other toiletries here at Worthington Park outside of the main office.
Next week is our last week for collecting items! We will be continuing our collection until Thursday, November 17th. Thank you to everyone who has already donated!
Winter Weather Reminder
While we have had beautiful weather this past week, we know that cold temperatures are headed our way. We encourage all parents to start sending students with coats, hats, and gloves in their bookbags daily. As a school- we always try to utilize our beautiful grounds and playground as much as possible. Even in winter months, our students will be going outside as long as the temperature at or above 20 degrees. Below is more information from our District Elementary Handbook. Thank you for helping keep our Park Sharks warm!
Weather and health permitting, we expect all children to go outside for recess. In our schools, when the weather is dry/dry enough, and the temperature is 20 degrees or higher, real temperature, or wind-chill, we plan to take students outside for recess. It is critically important that parents/guardians send students appropriately dressed for the weather conditions and seasons.
Nut Free School Reminder
Just a reminder that Worthington Park and all Worthington School buildings are NUT FREE.
Please remember to check your child's lunch and snacks to ensure they do not accidently have any peanut or nut based products (especially prepackaged Lunchables and Halloween Candy). Thank you for helping us keep our Park Shark Students Safe
📢🦈 Shark Shout Outs 📢🦈
This school year we have been celebrating all of the great things our students have been doing in the classroom, hallways, and playground. Our team has been teaching our students about what it means to be a "PARK S.H.A.R.K." I am happy to share that we have already had over 1,300 shout outs this school year.
Each and every Friday we pull a few of our Shark Shout Out Winners to participate in a fun Friday (aka Fri-Yay) video celebration with a quick game. We are so proud of our students and hope you will take time to celebrate as well! If you wanted to check out the Friday Videos click the link to our Youtube Channel below.
