Mill Creek Welcomed Students Back to School!

Excitement abounded as our many of our students returned to Mill Creek and as we welcomed some new faces to our school! We saw lots of smiles, high-fives, and hugs along the way! Backpacks were filled with classroom items, and we saw many supplies make their way into the building (thank you, Mill Creek families).

We are glad to see our students back with us, and we trust you had a wonderful first week!

Student Laptop Expectations

Central Bucks Technology & Innovation Department is asking us to stress the importance of laptop case use for students (grades 3-6) when they transport their laptops and when laptops are not in use for extended periods of time. At school, we will be stressing the importance and reminding students of the need to put their laptop in its case during these times (e.g. when taking a laptop from their classroom to specials class). We ask that you stress these practices at home, too. Thank you for your support!

Additionally, if your child loses or misplaces their laptop case, please reach out to the Mill Creek Main Office.

FROM MR. ORTMAN and MR. MURTHA

It is so wonderful to have our building full of students, teachers, and staff again, as we kicked off the 2022-2023 school year! Students bring energy and curiosity to our building, and we thank you for sharing your children with us each day, as well as entrusting us with helping them to grow and learn. Teachers and staff are excited to be working with you as a team to guide our students along their learning and development journey. We take great pride in being a Mill Creek Community, and, although summer brings its own fun and enjoyment, our Community feels dormant when our building is not populated with our students, teachers, and staff!

We had an incredible first week of school... one during which students were happy and excited to be here. This will surely be a springboard into a fantastic 2022-2023 school year!

Enjoy the long Labor Day weekend... the unofficial last celebration of summer!

Creekers' Code Winners!

Congratulations to our K-6th grade students being recognized this week for upholding our Creekers' Code tenets!

  • Cooperation
  • Respect
  • Excellence
  • Effort
  • Kindness
  • Empathy
  • Responsibility
  • Support

Winners will be invited to the main office to select a prize. These recognized students are:

Instructional Spotlight - Ms. Yarmolyk, 6th Grade

There is a good deal of focus on building a classroom community during the first week+ of a new school year, and part of that can involve providing students with experiences that ask them to engage in teamwork. Ms. Yarmolyk wasted no time putting her students' teamwork skills to the test as they participated in a cup stacking activity with two pretty challenging rules - all students in the group had to be involved, and no hand could directly touch any of the cups. Given this challenge, Ms. Yarmolyk's students put on some impressive teamwork displays, and more than one group (after some trial and error) successfully completed the stacking activity. For those who did not quite complete all the stacking, they still seemed to have a fun experience during which much was learned about working cooperatively (and having patience!). Ms. Yarmolyk's classroom has already established a strong community foundation!

District Laptop and iPad Care

Central Bucks Innovation and Technology Department has asked us to communicate the following regarding District-issued laptop and iPad care...

  • Please encourage your children to use their laptop/iPad bags for carrying devices in school, at home, and to and from each location.
  • Please encourage your children to report issues/problems with their devices, so they can be properly address and fixed as soon as possible.
  • The laptop/iPad payment fee covers accidental damage. Intentional damage may result in a family being billed for the damage.

Schools will be communicating these messages in school as well.

Inclement Weather Procedures for Car Riders - Dismissal

We ask that, on inclement weather days, car riders post a placard with the student(s) family last name, so we can call in names for quicker dismissal. We will do our best to send a message out earlier in the day if we believe inclement weather dismissal is necessary for car riders. Feel free to use the placard template below if you find it helpful.
